Easter breakfast in Latvian homes traditionally begins with an egg-knocking contest. With an egg in hand, each family member challenges the person next to him to crack his egg with another egg. This continues until all the eggs but one are cracked. Its holder is the winner.
Egg tapping, or also known as egg fight, egg knocking is a traditional Easter game. In English folk traditions, the game has variously been known as "jarping”, "shackling" or "dumping".
