“Oh, come on, it was one cask, barely a whole cask even, a half a cask of stolen port, is it really worth your time shackling me up and taking up space down here?” The guard to his left rolled his eyes, unamused and unswayed. For a moment, he debated offering a bribe, but giving his captor another once over, he decided against it. He suspected whatever food he might be provided with down here during his stay might very well end up with a little something extra if he tried.
Unceremoniously, he was turned out into a rather dark little cell, one of two that comprised the small brig of the ship. Two of the walls were made up of iron bars, rusted and dull, separating him from freedom, and the adjacent cell. The remaining two walls were the well maintained wood of the ship itself, not something he really wanted to be tampering with. The half cask of port may have been what they caught him on, but it was by no means the only cargo of note aboard the ship. The lone porthole was, unfortunately, in the confines of the other cell, leaving little light for Reiner to work with.
Not letting him out of his restraints until both guards had left and locked the cell behind them, Reiner was instead made to back up against the bars so as to allow his hands to be freed after what felt like hours.
