EGOKILLS - DORMANT, ALS ERSTER EINDRUCK VOM NEUEN ALBUM

Im Jahr 2020 ist für viele klar geworden, wie sich Isolation anfühlt. Allerdings ist das Leben in Isolation kaum eine neue Sache. Für einige von uns ist die fehlende Verbindung von Dauer. Manche Menschen entscheiden sich dafür, allein zu leben, Andere enden einfach so. So oder so, die Einsamkeit gibt Depressionen und Sucht viel Raum. Dormant, der neue Song von Egokills, den Metal-Hippies aus dem finnischen Tampere, handelt von der Isolation. Das Lied ist bemerkenswert dunkler und heftiger als alle bisherigen Werke der Band. Es ist hauptsächlich von dem Bassisten Mika Pusa komponiert und der lyrische Input stammt von Sänger Janne Selo und Schlagzeuger Vilho Rajala. Die Gitarristen Niko Viita-aho und Pasi Viitala stellen ihr Können auf einer breiten Skala, von donnernden Metal-Riffs über gefühlvolle Soli bis hin zu akustischen Parts unter beweis.

”As a band, we have most certainly not been lying dormant, even if it looks like it! After Pasi Viitala re-joined the band in 2019, we have constantly written new stuff and Mika has brought a lot to the table”,sagt Rajala.

Dormant ist die erste Auskopplung der Band mit ihrem neuen Produzenten Matti Lötjönen. ”This was the first studio session that made us feel we want to continue with this guy. We have recorded great music with other people in the past but Matti brought everything to a whole new level and his professionalism is admirable.”

Das berührende, wunderbare lyrische Video von Dormant ist ein bemerkenswertes Kunstwerk. Alma Rajala, die die Schwester des Schlagzeugers, ist Puppentheaterprofi und Vorstandsmitglied im Puppentheaternetzwerk Aura of Puppets. Die Idee eines Puppentheater-Videos gibt es schon seit einiger Zeit im Lager Egokills.

”I went to see Aura of Puppets; adaption of Shakespeare “The Tempest”; a few years back. I was completely overwhelmed by the magic of puppet theater. I talked about it with Janne and he immediately suggested we would do a video with puppets. It took a while but I am very glad we did it now!”

Der Hauptstar des Videos stammt von Maiju Tainio und das Video unter der Regie von Timo Lepistö mit Anthony Putkonen. Alle Bewegungen werden live gedreht, da die Marionette von Alma Rajala gehandhabt wird.

Egokills spielte live in Europa in den Jahren 2018 und 2019 in insgesamt 11 Ländern. Derzeit keine Live Auftritte sind in diesen aussergewöhnlichen Zeiten vorgesehen, aber Egokills sucht ständig nach Gelegenheiten zum Spielen.

”We can`t wait to get on stage again. We had one show this year, and I`m convinced we will have more next year!”

In der Zwischenzeit kann in naher Zukunft mit weiteren Single-Veröffentlichungen gerechnet werden. Das dritte Album ist für Ende 2021 geplant.
