Egreat A5 TV Box is a solidly made and looks aesthetically. The case is made of aluminum in black with Egreat logo on the top cover. The case and the TV Box are doing a very good impression, looks like a High-End model. TV Box is a really high quality. As we said at the beginning of his heart is HiSilicon Hi3798C V200 quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor which supports 10-bit 4K*2K H.265/H.264 hardware decoding, 4K*2K UHD video playback / 4K@60fps, and HD Audio (7.1CH) passthrough.
The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. On the front panel A5 TV Box has LED display, IR receiver and Power button. On one side there is a SATA 3.0 port and USB 2.0 port. The other side of the device, there is micro SD card slot, USB 3.0 port and USB 2.0 port. Egreat A5 is a new Android TV box that’s capable of a pretty rare feat. Thanks to Egret’s partnership with Vidon, the Egreat A5 comes with full Bluray menu support, HD audio passthrough and support for automatic framerate switching.
Design
Top notch build quality is what you can get from Egreat A5 that loaded with metal housing. Besides having solid brushed aluminum casing, it looks great and stylish too. LED white-Light dot matrix panel helps to beautify too, in addition, provide useful information. Infrared receiver, power light indicator, and power button are just beside the LED display.
Software
Android 5.1 Lollipop is the operating system that Egreat A5 is running right now. Support OTA firmware update (so far I did not receive any update – using the latest one here – V1.1.0.8) and USB update locally too. Egreat support seems great as there are several firmware revisions already. And upcoming beta firmware V1.1.0.9 available to test in their own forum too. Below is their own EG-UI 2.0 interface. Clean and simple yet stylish. Even the settings are matched to the main GUI.
A5 provides a number of avenues to make the binge viewing marathon possible. It comes with three USB (2.0 and 3.0) ports, one microSD port, and one SATA port that allows you to hook up a spare 2.5-inch hard disk drive (HDD). It also provides a venue for RCA audio-video (AV) connection as well as an antenna for Wi-Fi connectivity.
Main Home Launcher:
Booting Android to the “home screen” takes about 00:30:20 seconds. Egreat A5 UI launcher looks great and is very readable, providing quick and easy access to the most important features. The device can operate in the resolution of even 4K (up to 2160p 24Hz). We chose typical the resolution of FHD 1920×1080 (1080p 60Hz) but you can also adjust the preferred resolution or set the auto switch. Everything worked stable and very quickly without delays, Netflix also works without problems. Egreat A5 support also DLNA and Miracast. We had no problem with Ethernet and WiFi connection to the router and to the Internet, but connected via WiFi works a little too slow (Ethernet: Download – 318.72Mbps Upload – 40.72Mbps, WiFi: Download – 26.44Mbps Upload – 26.92Mbps).

Hardware:
The A11 uses the same SoC (System on a Chip) that the A5 and A10 are using. This SoC is made by HiSilicon and is called the Hi3798C V200. It’s a 64 bit ARM A53 CPU clocked at 1,6 GHz paired with 2GB RAM and 12GB onboard storage. Currently, it is running on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) but development on Android 7 has already started by Egreat. One of its selling points is the video decoding section which claims to offer very good capabilities (more on that later) due to its HiVXE 2.0 processing engine which is similar to VXP incorporated in some of Sigma Design’s SoCs.
