This is it. This is why I’ve been saving content from you guys. It’s only November, and we’ve already had this much snow. Not much I can do about gardening-specific posts until... March or April? Even then, it’ll all be indoor seed-starting stuff. This is where throwbacks and adventure come in! And winter is a SPLENDID time to do planning. Drawing. Preparing for next season. And maybe some skiing or snowshoeing through nature.

Sometimes adventure finds you. I found these orchids (I think they’re orchids) in my own backyard! Can anyone identify them?

I had given up the wildflower border as lost, and here they are! Defying the odds!

Camping trip! Have you ever slept in anything quite this cozy? A Hennessy hammock is the right place to be. We went to Chignecto in Nova Scotia. That’s right on the Bay of Fundy.

Guess who arrived yesterday? Only about half of what I ordered, but aren’t they the cutest? All three fit in one of my hands. So very very small!

Another July bloomer- sweet peas! These are a perennial variety that I forget the name of, but it has such a mass of flowers! I picked a few and put them in a vase with daisies.

Behold, the window sill garden:

It is time to pot up these hollyhocks. Prepare the induvidual pots first. Then get a spoon...

You can handle these small plants by their leaf. They’re strong enough.

Plunk then into the pot.

Pat them down, give a slight watering, and keep them in the sun (or under a grow light).

I think this is the biggest circus flower I’ve seen yet. On my own yard, at least...
