Okay, hear me out...

What if, what if, when they shoot Dean and Cas scenes on Supernatural, and they let the take go on a beat too long, and it looks decidedly too romantic, and they just cut off the tail ends of those scenes to pull it back a little. And then, after a few episodes, maybe even seasons, of this, the editors who've had to watch this shit go on and on and on over many many many hours of footage, what if they decided to save those little snippets -- a worried look that collapses into softness, a hug that starts out as reassuring and then melts into pure affection, a thumb that moves to stroke a cheekbone, a hand being held, maybe even gag reel moments where someone swoops in for a kiss (which we know is not impossible (Jared, I'm looking at you)) -- and all of it is on some secret folder on a hard drive somewhere labeled 'Break open in case of Destiel' or something.

And when the show finally, unequivocally, irrefutably acknowledges that Dean and Cas are a thing, they make a montage of all those moments over all those years, and they put it in an episode, or like, even a special feature on the blu-ray, and we just collectively lose our minds --
