Office Aesthetics - Obergruppenführer John Smith - 1/5
For @eigenliicht
@eigenliicht liked for a starter (and asked to not have their heart pulled out of their chest)
Pausing in front of John’s office door, Helen smiled gently at the scene beyond the panes of glass. His back was mostly turned from her, enabling her to stand on the other side of the entrance unseen, and his eyes fixed on some file in his hands, fingers occasionally flipping sheets of paper. She loved watching him like this, with some problem - not too difficult she hoped - causing his brow to furrow as he figured a solution, broad shoulders slumped slightly over his work.
Finally, she lifted her hand, breaking the silence with a quick rap on the panes, widening her smile for a moment when he immediately turned to meet her eyes. Quietly opening the door, she slipped inside before shutting it just as softly behind her. The children, if they knew she was bothering their father, would come bounding in, believing that her order not to disturb him was lifted. Lips quirking upwards once more, she crossed the space between them, heels clicking against the polished wood floors before stopping behind his chair, her hands moving to rest on his still uniform covered shoulders. It was clearly enough of a problem that he hadn’t even taken the time to change out of it so her curiosity was peaked.
Thumbs brushing against the dark fabric, she allowed herself a glance at his papers, not even long enough to make out a word, let alone what they said, as she asked, voice holding the slightest hint of concern, “ Is everything alright? ”

Hands nervously work on buttoning up the blouse, not exactly sure about what they were doing. Even though she knew there was nothing to be afraid of, her mommy and papa told her so several times already, Amy can’t help the little butterflies flitting around in her stomach. After all, the first day of first grade was a huge step. She’d be going to school, like her older siblings, and learning all sorts of important things that they didn’t teach the little kids in kindergarten. Now, learning those things well and making her parents proud... that was the cause of her nervousness.
So absorbed in her little thoughts, she doesn’t even notice her papa until he put his hands on her shoulders, sending her yelping in surprise. Any fear melted away at the sound of his warm laugh, voice teasing her gently for not paying attention. He knew, she could see it in his eyes as he sits on the bed, sitting her on his knee as he talked all the while about his first day of school. Between his large hands running through her hair as he turned it into a neat braid and his little tales of silliness, all the butterflies disappeared one by one.
