"How long can you keep the show going?"
The 8 show was such a good show!! People who say it's all just gore don't get the point of the show or just refuses to acknowledge what the show brutally represents. It's a show that depicts just how vulnerable human nature is when it comes to being exposed to the darkest sides of a hyper-capitalist society. How we are all part of the same social cancer that slowly eats away our entire being. Maybe the last two episodes may have been "lackluster" compared to the other episodes but overall, I still enjoyed the show. For a show with only eight episodes, I appreciate the pacing and storytelling. The visuals of the set is beautiful, but also haunting with all the cameras watching. The intro changed from each episode and it was an intro i'd never choose to skip.
"There's more money to be had." Was a motto everyone in the show had in mind, despite the differences in their class, or how they acted it out. If it feels unfair, it's because it's supposed to be. It's an integral part of human nature to always think of yourself first. No matter how much of a saint you think you are, when faced with danger, in the end you'll be scared for your own skin. It's selfish and cruel. The top floor stay on top because they have the power to stay on top. The bottom floor stay on the bottom because they aren't given any power to even go up.
The show does a good job with it's shtick, where when more time is added to the clock, we the viewers get to watch another episode. We represent the hosts, the ones who get entertainment.
There were several moments where they could've ended the show after they revolted against the upper floors but they didn't. They decided to stay until there was no time left on the clock. They hadn't wanted more time, but they did want to use the remaining time until they left. In the end they decided to milk every hour and minute to get their every penny worth. Everything all started because of greed, and ended with greed. But guess what? The hosts weren't ready to end the show on that note. That's why more time was added to the show. It was only in an act of desperation in the last episode did they think to buy using the time, but that had only amused the hosts. The show couldn't have end here, you have to finish it. Give us a show! A proper truman goodbye, was probably what the hosts wanted. The cameras being destroyed and thus triggering the "The End", effectively finishing the show.
