Tonight is the night! In Seattle's Georgetown area at Eight and Sand Gallery, I'll be at the "Insectarium" show in person for the opening from 6-9pm - details here - https://www.facebook.com/events/286697448432102 - part of Georgetown' s Art Attack for July - Insectarium is a group show inspired by insects & bugs, as interpreted by many wonderful artists. Eight and Sand is an itty-bitty gallery - everyone is welcome, come as you are - located at 5840 Airport Way S. Suite 212, Seattle WA 98108 NOTE: This is in the malt house, around the back of the building, up on south end of loading dock, first door on the left as you enter the building. I have four original fullsized paintings, two original mini paintings, a bunch of canvases & prints as well. Can't come? Work-in-Progress! Here is "Insectarium II: Carnivorous Plants" - she is the second of four paintings I will be doing for the Insectarium show at Eight and Sand Gallery in Seattle this July! Perhaps it's because I'm a vegetarian, but I've always been rather fascinated by carnivorous plants. One of my favourite parts of Kew Gardens is the carnivorous plant display inside the greenhouse - beautiful! Still in the earlier stages of this one, I'm beginning to work on her eyes, her lovely pink hair, and the pitcher plants & Venus Flytraps! This piece is on an 8x10" panel, original acrylic painting, she'll come in a gorgeous ornate 16x19" frame (I have four matching frames, three 8x10s and a 12x16 for the Insectarium show, I'll post pics of the others shortly), and she will be priced at $2400. Work-in-progress! Further along on "Releasing Fireflies"- the third of four paintings I will be doing for the Insectarium show at Eight and Sand Gallery in Seattle this July! We'll also have prints at some point later in July up at Strangeling.com as always. I've mostly been focusing on the background at this point - I wanted it to be very swampy, Spanish moss, dim enough to show that the fireflies will be glowing (eventually) but with a decent amount of detail still on the trees & branches. Mostly cool tones at this point, I will be adding a lot of warm tones once I begin work on the central character and of course the primary light source will be from the jar of fireflies (and others sparkling in the distance!).
