Very quick drawing based on Vanishing Point I made while I was away
[Image: watercolor drawing of the Eighth Doctor, Fitz and Anji walking away from the TARDIS on the edge of a seaside cliff. Fitz is walking way too close to the edge. Anji: “You’re gonna fall, you idiot.” Fitz “No, no.” Note next to the cliff: “(He fell 5 mins later)”.]
Out of the meandering notes forms a haunting six‐note melody, calling to them. Rising and falling and bending upwards again. He lingers on it, adding slides and grace notes, toying with the phrase like a child rolling a sweet round in his mouth. He meanders away from it, embroidering on the rhythm, turning the notes on their head, then always looping back to the same six‐note thought. A questioning phrase, unresolved.
—Woss that, then?
—Don’t think it’s been written yet. I’ll let you know when someone does…
This was meant to be for Music day of Fitz/8 week but it took me a little while to get it online so here it is now :)
In The Year of Intelligent Tigers there’s a reference throughout to a six note melody that is the only continuous thing the Doctor remembered in his hundred amnesiac years on Earth following the time war. At the end of the book we learn that it was a song Fitz wrote :3
According to The Year of Intelligent Tigers, Fitz wrote a song for the Doctor before the Earth Arc, but he could never finish it.
Bonus:
[Image: watercolor drawing of Fitz Kreiner frowning slightly, sitting at a window and playing the guitar. He’s looking in the distance and the lyrics of his song are written next to him ("sail on, sailor, sail on, still listening for your siren song, tomorrow is your only home") in an orange/yellow glow.
Bonus image: extremely messy doodle of Fitz playing the guitar and saying “anyway here’s Wonderwall” while someone off screen says “Please no”.]
I’m late to the party and I’m not sure I’ll be able to draw any other prompt because I have to finish some paid work.
[image: pen doodle of a living room lit by a fireplace. Eight is asleep on Fitz's shoulder on a couch, and their legs are under a blanket. Compassion is sitting by the fire and throwing papers in it. She has a pile of books next to her and she's also rolled in a blanket. Everyone is apparently very cold. Fitz: "He won't like it if you burn his books." Compassion, frowning: "12°C inside, and he's asleep. Who cares."]
A scene from Fitz’s Story (The Company of Friends), where Fitz has to pretend he’s secretly the real hero of the series, and the Doctor is just his bumbling assistant, as part of a plan they made to stop a firm from using the Doctor’s image in insurance adverts.
[Image: fan-made comic in three panels, where a journalist (dressed in blue, with her black hair tied in a bun) is interviewing Fitz (wearing his usual leather jacket over a red t-shirt, and with messy hair) in front of a yellow and blue background spelling “NEWS” and what could be a number.
Panel 1: Journalist, holding her notes, smiling: “And in the studio tonight, we have Fitz Kreiner, space traveler, and close compatriot of that world-famous enigma: the Doctor. Or rather, as he claims today, the power behind the Doctor’s throne! Mister Kreiner, welcome.” Fitz, looking at her instead of the camera: “Good evening. Call me Fitz.”
Panel 2: Journalist, putting her notes on the table, curious: “The claims you’re making will shock millions.” Fitz, cringing and hiding his eyes with his hand: “I never planned to come out with the truth, but having seen the adverts John’s made recently...” Journalist: “John? You mean the Doctor?” Fitz: “His real name’s John Smith. Now you know why he took a more dramatic name...”
Panel 3: Journalist, frowning at Fitz: “A Doctor. A healer of people and worlds.” Fitz, smiling, still looking at her instead of the camera: “Right. You’re very perceptive for someone so beautiful.” Journalist: “Uh...”]
