It glints in the light. “Pass it here, let me look closer,” Thaisha says by way of an answer, holding her hand out. Julien drops the ring into her palm. She draws it closer. Looks at it. Turns it over. Looks at it again. Looks at Julien. Looks at the ring. Back at Julien. “This is-” she starts, holding the ring up. “I know.” “Occtis’ signet ring,” she continues. “I know.” There is a beat. “Julien, what do you intend to do with my son?”
