Hanamura debuted in 1959, wrote during shojo manga's Golden Age
Some sad news to share - Shoujo manga pioneer Eiko Hanamura passed away at age 91. She debuted as a manga artist in 1959, and according to Otaku Calendar was the artist to popularize not only drawing lower lashes on character’s eyes, but she also popularized the use of narrative text to shoujo manga stories. RIP to a shoujo manga icon!
