I agree w/ Spanish anon, language makes you so much more connected to your culture. I'm Jewish and its p isolating that I'm not as fluent in Hebrew as my peers (but I'm trying!). I hope the way it's taught is improved bc it sounds like a struggle, but it's got to be better than the way they teach foreign languages over here (USA).

Languages are so important and I’d be absolutely terrified to see Irish go the way that Gaelic has gone in the school system in Scotland (I asked a Scottish friend if he did Gaelic in school and he LAUGHED because it wasn’t even an option).

Nah, it’s full of condescension and doesn’t touch what actually happened — a bunch of Sephardim, although mostly me telling you to back down on using racial slurs against us and saying that our cultures are not important. It wasn’t calling Jews “pigs” but calling Sephardim (very specifically) that, and refusing to back down. You never apologized, on the contrary, so yeah I’m still hurt over the things you did (especially those done to me, specifically).

Not a joke. You reblogged something with an aggressive message, not indicating that the person you were provoking or whatever wasn’t the same person you have also spent a long time provoking and being racist towards in the past. So I thought it was directed at me. Just a misunderstanding.

looking at their blog, I don’t agree with them on a lot of things, and they’re pretty anti-Israel and somewhat misinformed on things, but, at the same time, they’re not calling for Israel to be purged and Jews everywhere rounded up and executed.  That’s moderate enough that I don’t want to silence that voice.  (Sad, ain’t it?)

No, I gradauted from UF three years ago.  I am actually currently living in Wilmington, NC which is too small of a town to even have anything other than chinese listed on grub hub.  What I wouldn’t do for some Midnight Cookies right now!
