Nate and I enjoyed touring Bluebird Grain Farms today. They are an organic heirloom whole grain farm here in the Methow Valley. It was great to learn about the ancient grains Emmer and Einka and the process that they use to keep the grains whole and not “pearled,” which keeps more nutrients in the grains! I love how much care and personal attention they put into the whole process, from planting to packing. If you find yourself here in the Methow Valley, be sure to arrange a visit, and make sure to try some of the grains & flours!
