they've been apart the entire summer. with the hockey off-season beginning for them, belle had jetted off to australia for two months to cover another medic. despite calling, texting and video-calling whenever they could, it still wasn't the same as actually being with him. so when they asked for her flight information for the return trip, she didn't hesitate to provide it. she knew what the hockey star was planning and it only made her even more excited to go home. and once she made it through security to the meeting point, it took her almost no time at all to point him in the crowd. and what did she do? she ran straight to him, dropping her bags just before leaping towards them.

❝ ilya! ❞ he captured in his arms with minimal effort, greeting her with a kiss before even speaking. no complaints from her though. it ends a little too quickly for her liking. ❝ i guess you missed me, huh? ❞ but she doesn't give him time to answer before their lips meet again, grinning against ilya's lips. it doesn't matter that they're still in the middle of the airport. she missed them, she really did.

Will staggers back to their feet, feeling the embarrassment more than the actual physical pain. It takes another moment for him to even notice that during his slip and fall his glass must've shattered and cut into his hand a little bit. They can't help but stare at the blood, bewildered by the red colour ( they'd bled in a darker one for too long ) and suddenly the music seems to resonate through their whole body even more unpleasantly.

"I'm ok, really! It's not that bad", he tries to assure the person who helped him up, still looking at him with concern. Will regrets that they agreed to come to a club, especially on a night like this. Apparently there's been a hockey game nearby and the Kingfisher is packed. "Thanks for the help though."

“What happened?” Shane asked, looking confused as he went up the walkway towards where Ilya was standing at the door. Sometimes it still took him by surprise over the fact that he could just do that now. But whatever Ilya had to tell him must have been big if he was willing to meet him the second the car door had opened.

Somehow Wilhelm isn't even fully surprised when the package arrives. It's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last either, no matter how many times they have the I'm trying to teach my son that he can't just have anything he wants without effort, Lia! conversation.

Wilhelm takes a closer look, recognizing the logo. A Nintendo Switch. He vaguely remembers Jonas had mentioned saving up for one of those when Ilya had last come over. And here it is, just turning up at his doorstep like so many other presents have over the years. Not that Wilhelm can actually be mad, for the most part he thinks it's sweet and understands that Ilya's expressing their love for his son this way.

Just when he's about to send his friend a text, he hears steps behind him and Jonas is peeking over his shoulder. "Oh my god, did they actually?" He can't help but smile at the awe in Jonas' voice and hands the package over. "Greetings from Ilya." "Papa, I swear I didn't talk about the Switch on purpose!" "Sure you didn't."

“I want to,” Shane responded, hesitating slightly as he spoke. He needed to. He had always known that he was too much and worried about Ilya more than Ilya ever wanted him to. But when he knew Ilya was having a hard time, sometimes he needed to just visibly see that he was okay. That he was still there. Shane knew that this was a conversation that he was avoiding having with Ilya, his worries about him and the genetic predisposition to depression. It was not a time to have that conversation. “But if you want me to stop, I will,” Shane was doing his best to learn to compromise. To have conversations instead of just pushing his way.

Summer has arrived, which means camp would be starting up soon. Shane loves camp. It's one of his favorite things to do, but there's a lot of preparation involved. That, and, well, it takes away time that could be spent with Ilya, but they always find ways to make up for it. They're in bed, curled up against each other, enjoying their last couple days where they truly have nothing to do before things ramp up until hockey season starts again.

Shane is going on and on about the things they would need to check on, how they had to make sure they had all the things for the amount of kids that signed up, all the logistical things. Ilya is ever the attentive listener, but Shane can't help but trail off and blush as Ilya traces their fingers along his jaw with the most adoring look in the world.

God, how does he ever get anything done with them around?

"You're distracting me," he teases, snuggling closer and giving them a kiss. "Is that your grand plan? Hm?"
