|| What's the weirdest part of your lore?
|| As in--Loki tying his balls to a goat and Heimdall having nine mothers level weird.
I would say the weirdest part of my lore is Messenger.
So Messenger is Landilizandra's eldest son. Sort of. When she first mated, she had two eggs. One hatched into a daughter, the other into a son. The son, like her, was an albino, which was considered a mark of death in his father's species. This belief would ultimately lead to this son being murdered to prevent his curse from spreading.
Not long after the death of her son, Messenger appeared. He looked nearly identical to her dead son, only he had a green rosette on his forehead, vaguely in the shape of a human skull. Messenger claimed to be her son, which wasn't totally a lie. What was he? He was a Fae, created from Landilizandra's grief to replace her dead son.
Now Messenger is an unusual creature. He's immortal, but his body, which is never larger than the newborn he replaced, is just as destructible as any young dragon is. Whenever his body is destroyed, he creates a new one from scratch. However, if his body is destroyed in a way that would kill a Fae, he needs to reincarnate into his mother. His spirit enters her, forces her to become pregnant, and he's born again with little fuss. Well, minimal fuss. See, he's born as a Fae version of whatever species she was when she became pregnant, which he isn't fond of because he likes being able to pick out his own body. So usually he gets himself killed again as soon as possible so that he can just make a new body.
I'm serious, dying to Messenger is like getting a haircut to everyone else.
Now, he can be reborn as any sort of Touch, but he usually has a certain set of features.
His Rosette. This never goes away, and the mark is the same every time.
Antenna.
Extra limbs.
Unusual or extra eyes.
Insectoid or unusual wings.
Unusual feet, often hooves, paws, or avian talons.
Now, this is the normal stuff about Messenger.
Time for the weird stuff.
Messenger seemed to be older than he was when he first hatched. Since he has aged a lot since then, this is less noticeable. But it is still notable.
Messenger also seems to have enhanced prophecy abilities, and while he is loyal to his mother, it also seems as though he has his own agenda, one that even she can't figure out.
Now here's the really weird thing.
Messenger appears to be just as powerful, if not //more// powerful, than his mother. Considering his mother is both The LOAD, a Deity, //and// a reborn Embodiment, this is extremely bizarre.
Weird, right? Well, there's a reason.
Messenger, unbeknownst to everyone save himself, is the following:
The eldest member of a race of Feline and Cervine Dragons, and the direct son of the Embodiments of Life and Healing.
The Embodiment of Fae.
From the future, sort of.
Now, let me explain. Life and Healing are, for those of you who don't know, Landilizandra and Drorko, reborn as Embodiments after their death. As Embodiments they mate and produce a race of Nature Dragons. Messenger is one of these, most notably the first of these, and as the eldest son of two Embodiments he was created as the Embodiment of Fae.
Now, the way I usually describe the time differences between Embodiments and The Multiverse is that the Multiverse is a book, and the Embodiments are the authors. The story happens linearly, to those who exist within it, but those who are reading and writing it can open the book at any chapter and start reading. This is what Messenger did. He was created as the Embodiment of Fae, then, after some time, entered the Multiverse at the chapter where Landilizandra lost her son, and basically inserted himself into the story.
But no one knows any of this but him.
