When Eizen tend to feed you his specially fresh baked Palmiers his fingers would 'accidentally' linger for quite longer.... he then apologized to you from his actions. But he don't regret it.
Your lips were too supple to handle and your eyes looking up to him straight in the eye as if you are hypnotizing him in a positive way.
Oh he's gonna let the Reaper's Curse choke him from embarrassment.
If requests are still open could I maybe get "Come here, you're okay." with Eizen? 🥺 I recently started ToB and I love him so much??? Like that’s the husband right there and I’m so sad that the fandom doesn’t have much written content for him. Hopefully I can build up my writing confidence enough to where I can contribute something of my own one day.
My darling, I cannot wait for the day when I get to read your incredible work
And yes, Eizen is a man after my own heart
Turbulence
Eizen hadn't been anywhere close to sleeping. He was up late reading from a new book he had picked up at a port a few stops back, and these were the only moments he had to really focus on it.
Until he heard a knock at his door.
He let out a grunt as he closed the book and put it down on his nightstand, rising from his mattress and crossing his room to open it. He expected to see Benwick with some kind of report on the course, or maybe the weather.
He was surprised to see you instead.
He was surprised to see you looking so small.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Eizen." Your voice was quiet, like you were afraid to upset him. Which wasn't a stretch of the imagination; he wasn't the most approachable guy. "Did I wake you?"
"No. You didn't. What is it?"
See? He wasn't surprised to see you flinch at his gruff question.
You rubbed your arm anxiously, suddenly finding yourself unable to look him in the eye. "I-It's nothing. Nevermind. I'm just going to go-"
"You're already here, you might as well tell me."
You hesitated.
"I just... had a really bad dream. And I didn't want to be alone. And... your room was closest. I'll leave if you want me to."
He crossed his arms, studying you. You were shrunk in on yourself, still not looking at him. And yet whatever it was you dreamed about, it had you more scared of it than you were of him, if you still came to see him.
He wanted to tell you to go back to your room. To just go back to sleep, that you'd be fine.
But he couldn't with you reminding him so much of her right now.
He opened the door wider.
"In here."
You blinked, but obeyed wordlessly, stepping into his room and looking around. It was decorated with all kinds of artifacts you had never seen before, seemingly from all different time periods.
You'd have to remember to ask him about them later.
"You can sleep here. Just for tonight."
You tore your gaze away from a vase you were inspecting.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Come on, before I change my mind."
You nodded, kicking off your shoes and placing them out of the way before moving to the mattress and sitting on it. You felt yourself almost melt into it, it was so comfortable. It was plusher than the one in your own room, which made sense. He was the captain, after all.
Eizen grabbed his book again and sat on the edge of the bed, figuring it wouldn't take too long for you to fall asleep with company around. He felt you shift under the blankets, and at first he thought you had already fallen asleep after just a few minutes; he didn't hear a peep out of you.
Until you fidgeted.
And did it again.
And again.
He turned to you, not quite frustrated, and saw that you still were wide awake. Not only that, but you almost seemed to be holding your breath. Did you think he was going to yell at you? Or were you just that afraid of whatever you had dreamed about. For the second time, he closed his book, and before he could question his own actions, moved his arm over your shoulders.
"Come here."
He pulled you into his side.
"You're okay."
He felt you let out the breath you were holding, but your muscles stayed stiff. He had to admit that he felt just as awkward, but right now it was more important to try and get you to sleep. Being the Reaper, disaster could strike at any minute, and your odds of surviving would be higher with a full night's rest.
It took another few minutes, but he finally heard your breathing steady, indicating that you had fallen into slumber. With his free hand, he opened his book once more, finally able to read without anymore interruptions for the night, you tucked neatly into his side.
He was a pirate, but he was by no means a liar. Still, maybe "just for tonight" wouldn't end up as an entirely true statement.
I'm going to turn this into another childhood friends situation slop, because I can🫶🏻
This turned out longer than expected.
You were promised to him from a young age.
As the eldest daughter of a wealthy merchant family closely affiliated with the Asaemon's, you held no grounds when it comes to inheriting the family business. Your family had already signed the agreement, by the time Eizen comes of age, you two would be wed as soon as the cherry blossoms start to bloom.
Growing up, Eizen wasn't particularly fond of you. You were timid, meek; you hid from him for the majority of his stay in your family's estate and you made great efforts in steering clear of him whenever you stayed at the Yamada estate.
At one point he had convinced himself that you hated him—hated the marriage that was set upon both of you, to the contract that signed away both of your lives to be intertwined before you even had the consciousness to make the decision for yourselves.
At one point, he had grown to dislike you as well.
There's no running away from duty; you are assigned your role the moment you are born. A woman born into high society should conduct herself properly— as the lady of your household, you should carry yourself with confidence, your head held high w/ both elegance and poise. Or at least, that's what his mother had told him when they were discussing his marriage proposal to your family.
But now, as he comes face to face with you— you are more akin to a cornered mouse than a girl born from a noble lineage. You shrink away from his attention, you don't try to meet his eyes, when you speak to him— you fumble over your words, quick to excuse yourself as soon as you feel the silence linger longer than you’d like.
It's a marriage of duty, for him and yourself. Feelings shouldn't matter. You would bear his children for the sake of both your families’ legacy. What should matter is you learning to conduct yourself properly in social situations and develop speaking skills expected of a woman of your standing.
He should be dissapointed in you, you should know better by now. You're the same age, and yet you choose to cower from him— he should be dissapointed in you. This is hardly how a lady should be acting in front of her future prospect.
He pinches the bridge of his nose as he spies you hiding behind a pillar. You hurried to conceal yourself as soon as you saw him from across the path. You didn't even have the sense to hide yourself discreetly behind a wall— he would've been less disappointed if you simply turned and fled. At this rate, if faced w/ a truly dire situation, you would probably choke on air alone.
But as your husband, it is within his duty to help you. As the future head of the Asaemon's, he will guide you into becoming the proper wife fit to stand beside him.
Your first session started of w/ Eizen spending the majority of the day looking around the estate for you. When he finally cornered you and brought you to the library, you were shaking so badly that he almost felt bad for subjecting you to his lectures (almost).
This is for your own benefit, he reminds himself.
By the second session, you were still tense, however, you didn't try to run from him the moment you saw him (well, you did attempt to pivot away, but he called your name before you could scamper off, rooting you in place); it goes by swimmingly, you didn’t look too enthused, but you didn't voice any complaints either.
On your third session, you were still quiet. You listened to his words, but you remained restless in your seat.
On your fourth lesson, he brought Sagiri w/ him. Having you both listen to his words could benefit you both, it's as they say— killing two birds with one stone. And you seem visibly relaxed w/ the younger girl around.
Sagiri ended up sleeping halfway through, curling up beside you, head resting on your lap as you tucked away loose strands of hair away from her face.
He had ended the session earlier that day.
His continued efforts to bring to light the importace of poise and aptitude followed on everytime he came by to visit on the weekends. You've grown quite used to his presence, although you rarely ever listened to most of his words.
You find yourself expecting his company whenever the weekends roll around, or whenever family meetings occur, sticking yourself to his side like a moth to a flame. He never shoed you away, so you never left him alone either.
Eizen wouldn't state it forthcomingly, but he finds himself growing fond of your company as well. It's not an unwanted outcome, you are to be married in future after all, it's only natural you two would have a close bond.
