Samsung Galaxy Camera EK-GC100
I have a new Gadget: The Samsung Galaxy Android Camera. The EK-GC100 offers a good camera with 21x Zoom (23mm~483mm), the resolution is 16.1 Megapixel that supports DivX/XviD, MP43, Sorenson Spark, VC-1, VP8, WMV7, WMV8.
The 4.8″ Touch-Display with 1280 x 720 Pixel / 262K TFT is quick and reacts fast.
The 3G Network works in the following Frequencies and Data Type: 800/850/1900/2100 MHz and 900MHz / HSDPA CAT 14 and HSUPA CAT 6.
If you want to transfer huge data, you might want to use Wifi, the 3G network performance is sometimes a bit slow. And the Camera is Bluetooth capable: AVRCP, A2DP, BPP, OPP, SPP

The camera function offers the following modes: Action freeze, Beauty face, Best face, Burst shot, Light trace, Macro, Multi, Mosaic, Natural green, NightShot, Panorama, Rich tone, Silhouette, Smart night, Smile shot, Vivid fireworks, Waterfall
I must admit, that the 21x zoom lens is awesome! But you should use a stand, otherwise your pictures might get blur.
The camera is nearly a full blown Android 4.1 phone! You are able to download a lot of things (Games, Apps and Tools) from the Google Play Store! But no, it doesn’t make phone calls.
But mind the gap: Not all Android camera apps support zooming. This is not an issue of the camera, this is a problem of the App!

The display is razor sharp! It is really quick: If you want to take a picture, you can touch the screen to focus a special point of the picture. Even if you swipe around (Between screen, or pictures) the camera is quick.
The camera supports the direct share of pictures that you take! You can upload them instantly to Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, Google+, and others. Another great feature: AllShare! If you own more then one Samsung device you are able to share items (e.g. Videos or Pictures) via AllShare Play and Group Cast. but AllShare Play DLNA aware, that makes the sharing in the same WiFi network a finger snip! Device-to-device sharing is also supported via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, both accessible from the camera application.
Sometime the wakeup performance lags! It takes around 3 seconds from Standby to get in (Auto)Focus mode. Booting takes a lot longer! Is the camera needs to boot it will take a while… No way to take a quick shot if the camera is off! Just leave it in standby mode in between photos.
But honestly: The EK-GC100 is a first generation device, that leaves a lot of space for improvements! If Samsung will sell enough EK-GC100 devices they will improve it… Thats for sure!
