my brother: ...survive?

me: yeah, kill the bad things and survive. in Ekkeos he had to pay taxes. and talk to people.

my brother: I think Daelen needs therapy if he prefers the Shadowfell to paying taxes

me: he needs therapy for more than that, but you're not wrong

we frequently joke about how Jon and I share the same brain cell

but like--

his character (Leone) took the Dream spell in their last level up, and he had mentioned to me previously that he was going to do that, so I planned on an encounter for when he first cast the spell

basically after Leone did what he wanted to do, instead of the spell ending, he got sucked into another dream where he would see their NPC friend (Daelen) who had stayed behind in the Shadowfell to protect them-- except Daelen didn't tell them he was doing this and they had to watch as the portal closed with Daelen still on the other side

needless to say this was Traumatic for their characters, especially as Leone and Daelen had been fighting and then went on a fake date, and there were a lot of things going on between them that needed to be addressed. and then suddenly. Daelen is gone.

so the Dream finally happened, and Leone and Daelen saw each other for the first time in at least a month of in-game time

and I'm giggling and kicking my feet together and twisting my hair around my finger (metaphorically) because I'd been planning this for a few months irl time, and I'm super excited of course

and then Jon hits me with this--

Leone finally cast Dream for the first time and ended up getting pulled into one of Daelen's nightmares, and it's the first time the 2 of them have seen each other or spoken since Daelen chose to stay behind in the Shadowfell, and Daelen misses them, and Leone is still angry, and Daelen said he'd be okay with it if Leone showed up in his dreams again, and Leone didn't tell the rest of the group that he'd talked to Daelen

ahhhhhhhh it was so good!!

I've been planning this for months and it finally happened!!!

my friend is making a character to join the main campaign and she picked the Feylost background, so she is now friends with the Tooth Fairy and carries around a box to collect teeth in the Prime Material Plane to take back to her friend

was hanging out with some friends a few nights ago, and the topic inevitably turned to DnD as it always does

I was invited to infodump about the lore of my homebrew world, and they complemented me on how thorough my worldbuilding is and how I've thought through narrative/RP consequences

and it just makes me feel like I'm actually doing something right even though it's like 90% improvisation

we played for the first time in literally 3 months and it was such a mess but we had so much fun

my friend from back home played as a guest, plus all 4 of my players were able to make it!!

the highlight was Leone using a custom homebrew spell that Dorian (one of my old PCs in a different campaign) had taught him-- and then Kaide (my friend's PC, who adventured with Dorian in that other campaign) immediately recognising the spell and saying, "Oh, so you're like Dorian."

like, their party and Kaide hadn't really established who their mutual friends were beyond saying that they both know Killian and Dorian

and Kaide just immediately picks up on Leone's proclivity for necromancy with one spell

I'm also considering Sera, short for Serotonin

for context-- we are both pharmacists (well, I'm about to be in 3 months) and I am terrorising my DnD players (all pharmacists or in pharmacy school) by naming random characters after medications & medical concepts

Shane: I don't know if we're heroes-- we're incredibly stupid for doing this.
