Hebosagil – Lohtu (Ektro)
I'll never know what the fuck these guys are saying, as they sing in their native language, which is perfectly fine. I mean, I'm in it for the sludgy heaviness and I doubt they are saying much I can or want to relate to anyway. Having heard Hebosagil in the past, I was sort of expecting the same barrage of vaguely sludgy noise-rock that they've been delivering for awhile now. However, there have been changes made here on Lohtu, which has the band toying around with some drawn out tension exercises...throwing in passages that, while certainly not calm, would seem so for a band like Hebosagil. Really though, it appears that Hebosagil have scaled things back some with Lohtu, choosing to ease away from more straight forward noise-rock...relying less on the “loudness” and more on the actual heaviness. Riffs are slowed down to really drive the point home here, but the interesting part is when they switch into some type of odd Motorhead styled thrashiness. Overall it works and it's nice alternative to what they were doing before, which while adequate, wasn't quite as interesting as what they are putting together here. Fans of sludgy metal/noise-rock should be into this quite a bit. Hebosagil – Kauan (stream) BUY IT!
