Summary: Eladio's insomnia, combined with his stress over Jeremy's health, has led him to seek you out - his ex from college.
Warnings: Genderneutral reader, depression, intense insomnia, therapy mentions, j*b mention, poorly written first person, short but sweet
A/N: I write fanfics but never x readers.. the severe lack of Eladio content is upsetting. Also I kept getting distracted in the middle of writing a sentence.
REBLOGS OVER LIKES!
It's late when Eladio calls you. 11 pm, to be exact. You two hadn't spoken since graduation, since the breakup.
"Yo, uh.. is this y/n?" Eladio's voice is raspy and he sounds tired. Far more than you remember him being.
"Yeah, why? Need sum?" You answer cautiously. "You sound tired."
Eladio huffs out a laugh at that, but you can tell it's forced. "I.. just.. need someone to talk to. My therapist- she ain't answering, I think she's asleep, and I didn't wanna bothet any of my homies, so.."
You shift in your bed, sitting up and switching the phone to your other hand. "Therapy, huh? Is that what I am now? A therapist?"
There's nothing but silence on the other side of the phone for a brief moment. When Eladio speaks, it's slow and measured. "Nah, nah. You're right. I have no right to treat you like shit. Especially after our last conversation." You can hear the hesitation in his voice ; the way the rasp in his voice seems more pronounced.
You remain quiet, the silence seeming to stretch forever. Eventually, Eladio speaks up. "I'm so tired, y/n. My insomnia has gotten worse since I started working for this.. wealthy ass family as a health aide. Its.. our relationship.. is complicated." He confesses softly.
You sigh. "Did you at least try to get some sleep before waking me up?" You hear a laugh from the other side of the phone. "Yeah, yeah.. didn't work.. I'm sitting outside by this pool. Ten toes in, but I feel like I'm drowning, man."
You slide out of bed, slipping on a pair of slippers and exiting your bedroom. "You wanna come over? I can get you some coffee. I got leftover pizza, too."
"Really? I mean-" You can hear Eladio dramatically clearing his throat and replying in a lower, more sultry tone. "Is this a date, baby?"
You can feel your heart rate speed up, but you choose to ignore it. "No, El. Absolutely not."
@whatsgoingonovahere has blessed us with these amazing stills from Eladio, my favorite Anthony Ramos character from my favorite show (In Treatment) starring my favorite actress (Uzo Aduba)
