As a Yuzu fan, I was not expecting to come away from the GP series stanning Wakaba & feeling really intrigued by Polina (those juuumps, that delayed rotation * A *) and Rika but here I am, and partly thanks to your blog introducing them, so thank you!! I'm hoping the two girls make the GPF so badly (I'm scared for Wakaba ;;) and am prepared to angrily yell abt their underscoring. I'm just glad to find someone with the same faves ;; what's your favourite rika/polina program? o:

Aw thank you for reading my rants XDI am scared for Wakaba as well. She deserved that gold so much and now she risks being out of GPF thanks to constantly being robbed. I am so scared she won't make it T___T *fingers crossed Polya can win SA and she and Wakaba can both be there ç.ç*My favourite programs...Polya's programs from last season, so her Light of the seven SP (happy she recycled it, it grew on me so much!) and her February FP. For Rika, Kung Fu Piano. It's actually my favourite ladies' SP this season, with Wakaba and Marin's a close second. The StSq...the attention to details, that entry into the 2A çwç

3. what is your favorite all-time fic?

this is so hard to answer because i love and have loved so many very different fics, and it feels dishonest (?) to call one my very favorite when i love them for different reasons and in different ways. but qualifying it with ‘all-time’ makes me reach for one that has been a favorite for years: the pure and simple truth by lettered. friends talking, in many iterations. 

18. do you have a fic recommendation page or a master list?

the bookmarks page on my ao3 is the closest it gets (though it’s currently a little out of date because in the last month or so i’ve read a ton of stuff while traveling or otherwise on the go, and a lot of it has been amazing but i haven’t sat down to leave comments and add them to my bookmarks just yet). i also have a fic rec tag. 

23. has fluff ever made you cry? what about angst?

i’m not sure either ever has! i do cry at fic, but i’m not sure i’d say it’s angst that does it; i love to read about pining and brain problems and (whenever i can) both at once, and when an author is able to evoke a particular combination of heartache/loneliness/depression it hits me Too Hard and i cry and it’s very cathartic. 

28. who are your favorite fanfiction author(s)?

this is TOO HARD to answer so i’m going with the first three that come to mind, all for yoi: kevystel, daswarschonkaputt, and sixpences. i love fic that pulls me completely into it, and these authors are all amazing at creating an immersive experience, be that wrt the characters’ emotional world or incredible attention to detail in the worldbuilding. (ridiculously, i am not fully caught up on any of these three right now, but everything i’ve read i’ve really enjoyed.)

36. has a fic ever left you unable to fall asleep or think about anything else?

frequently! the most recent instance was with empty spaces between stars by astudyinrose, partially because i am an absolute sucker for mutual pining in forced proximity situations and this gave me everything i love, and partially because i read it on planes and trains over this past weekend in a big burst and got totally consumed, but with it being a wip and therefore not being over my brain just got stuck in it.

I love the idea of Laurent's daemon on track to be feline but catlike, not leonine because - naturally - he's never had the ambition/thirst for power that the more leonine daemons represent (which ties in neatly to your idea of the regent's lynx ahhh) and there's a softness to his pre-trauma personality. I absolutely love the connotations of laurent and bird daemon - a manifestation of his desire to escape. dare I say eleanore was a....SPARROW before falcon??? (omg all the tears ;___ ; )

YOU CAUGHT ME. she absolutely went sparrow as her first ever bird form. it didn’t last very long; every time laurent looked at her he felt sick and wanted to start crying.

Ahh your daemons!AU and /Laurent/. falcon daemon is so fantastic. I love how the universe enables such a physical, visceral representation of effects on the soul ;~; (bUT CONSIDER maybe Auguste's daemon was feline and Laurent's hero worship but fundamentally different personality manifesting in smol!cat form). I also want to imagine post-trauma Eleanore's form being the natural predator of the regent's daemon but I also feel like that may not be how L dealt w trauma afterwards :((

UNNECESSARY AMOUNTS OF OPINIONS AHOY:

I think auguste’s daemon was definitely feline (leonine, even) and in fact I think that was kind of a Thing for the royal family of vere. including the regent. whose daemon would be–ugh look I’m going gut instinct and saying lynx. 

so eleonore was all on track to settle as some kind of amazing, proud, clever, aloof little cat. a turkish angora, maybe? and then. AND THEN.

eleonore flipping bird was, depressingly, partly a reaction to laurent suddenly finding himself in the role of prey. and partly a strong desire to distance himself from his uncle and what his uncle represented. and partly a strong desire for escape. (laurent of course being just as much the titular captive prince as damen is, in book 1.)

(the regent is the one who started the rumours about eleonore’s slow settling indicating a fundamental weakness of character. obviously. to start his campaign of having laurent thought of as unfit for the throne.)

she only settled when laurent had made up his mind to fight back. to fight alone, if that was what it took. but to fight. laurent had grown a sharpness to him, by that stage. there was no going back from bird, but they refused to be prey any more.

also I like the far-sightedness aspect of a bird of prey for laurent. sharp eyes, looking at the big picture, missing nothing.

A FINAL NOTE: did anyone notice that I gave damen a dog daemon, which in the books is the most common form for the daemons of servants to take? ~META~

a pairing you didn't like initially but someone changed your mind: i thought i didn’t have anything for this and then remembered i used to not like harry/draco! and then emily @colberts recommended turn and then gave me a whole bunch of other recs and i fell very hard and fast 

a ship you never liked and probably never will: several sports anime ships come to mind, but the biggest has to be haru and makoto, both because i have almost no ability to multiship and vastly prefer haru and rin together and because of my own hangups about best friendships and one person reading and talking for the other person. 

who was your first otp: autocorrect tried to change that to ‘first top,’ just fyi. anyway…coming back to how i used to not like harry/draco, well, my first otp was actually draco/ginny! back when the books were coming out, largely in the period between ootp and hbp. one of the header options on dracoandginny.com is by me lmao

invent a random au for any fandom: this has absolutely no plot or drama to it, but: med student damen and linguistics student laurent. in boston probably, for my own personal nostalgia reasons. laurent is in his last year of undergrad and working his ass off and so is damen obviously, so they can only see each other once or twice a week. laurent lives in a dorm (a single, of course) and damen lives in a crowded duplex apartment with roommates, nikandros among them; laurent would rather damen came over but thanks to their schedules and the impossibility of both of them fitting in laurent’s narrow dorm bed he usually goes to damen’s. 

your own personal headcanon: this is too vague!!! um. let’s go with: i picture laurent about 5’10” and damen about 6’4”—taller by only a half a foot or so, but much Thicker too

Yeah def prefer Jord at 25-27 at most (omg hadn't even considered csa point re: Aimeric). fair point about Nikandros - Akielos strikes me as a system where your age matters less than physical maturity & skill. I'd put Nik at 30 - 32, personally

yeah! like, even w/o textual basis i’d probably imagine them closer to damen’s age, but also it definitely fits the cultural context and suggested backstories.
