Plus Size Elain Headcanons

Warnings - Half naked bodies. I've been asked to add this warning when it applies

A/n - Ah! Posted before I remembered to add this. I have received so many requests for this headcanon. I hope I did it justice.

Throughout history, plus size women have been signs of wealth, fertility, beauty, and good health. Even in modern-day times, the plus-size figure is the norm and desirable in many cultures.

When we look into history at statues meant to bring blessings of fertility, you notice a female statue with large breasts, large stomachs, and typically a bit of a booty or fuller hips. Fertility statues are considered sacred, beautiful, and worshipped in religions all around the world. They are representations in many places of the ideal female body, not just pregnancy.

We see this similar theme in the Goddess of Love, Beauty, and fertility across religion. From the birth of Venus to the modern-day art of Oshun, to carvings of Lakshmi, it is still very popular to see these Goddesses depicted with a fuller figure, softer stomach, and hips.

During the dark ages, the plus-size figure was the standard of beauty for other reasons. It meant you were wealthy and could afford to eat. Daughters and wives of wealthy men were lusted after for the symbolism of money and power their fuller figures created. That brings me to Elain.

I firmly believe Elain at her happiest is plus size. Soft curves, a belly, and ass for days, Elain isn't ashamed or embarrassed by her full figure. Not when she knows what we all should: Curves, no matter how big or small, are sexy, and not when she knows it is a symbol of her papa's wealth and later Rhysand's, then Lucien or Azriel's, whichever you prefer.

I do firmly believe Elain would have a gentle hourglass figure as a plus-size woman. She would be a proportional plus-size woman, mainly because SJM would write her that way to match the image of perfection.

I also firmly believe Elain is rocking a booty. Big booties have always been sexy. Sir Mix a Lot made a whole song out of it and people will pay for BBLs to achieve the big booty look Elain naturally gets to have.

When addressing the booty situation, think of all the squatting she is doing in the garden. Mama has thick thighs and perfect ass. That's why she can't wear pants. She put too many fae in the hospital by breaking their necks to look back at it.

Cellulite and stretchmarks are also a thing on plus-size Elain's body. And if it's Lucien or Azriel, those dimples and scars are loved and cherished. They're signs of her happiness and security in herself. Signs that starvation didn't win. I imagine both of them as the types of males to trace them, whispering how beautiful she is and how sexy they find her.

I very much picture plus-size Elain as an Ashley Graham like figure. Ashley Graham, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her long hair, her face card, her curves. But most importantly, her confidence. Elain would be so confident in her plus-size body that you can not help but see her as this ethereal creature.

Elain Archeron Headcanons

In no particular order

we know Elain bakes a lot - but what you may not know is that the item she's proudest of making is the three tiered cake she made for Feyre based off their dresser from the cottage

She knows their dad wasn't perfect and had failed them all those years - but she also recognizes just how broken he was those years and sees no point in holding it against him (I am not justifying papa acheron this is just what I think her views on the situation are)

Her favorite part about gardening is watching all her hard work pay off - and getting an opportunity to get her hands dirty

Elain really values being able to do things like garden and bake - because she was always seen as the prettiest sister she was discouraged from doing anything that could "negatively" impact that beauty (aka any form of even mild labor) - so for her "getting her hands dirty" is her rebellion against those ideas

She (not so) secretly resents being the "prettiest" sister

She feels like it's her job to keep everyone happy

She just adores sun showers!

Of all of Nyx's aunts and uncles, Elain is his favorite - she knows but she wouldn't dream of bragging about it

She feels like she has to take a backseat to her sisters lives and journeys - she's even convinced herself that she's "okay" with this (I think she has felt this way since before we, as readers, ever met her in acotar)

Plus sized Elain!!!!

She has started reading Nestas favorite books - and has small art lessons with Feyre

She cannot see her own fate (imo this is canon but like waiting for her book to fully confirm)

Anytime she feels even a slight amount of resentment towards someone she loves it's accompanied with intense guilt

She gifts any extra baked goods she makes to the random citizens of Valaris

She was wearing venti-black to the CON in acosf

Her hair is curly AF

She cannot forgive herself for what she feels like she put Feyre through when they were humans (not saying whether I agree with this - just this is my headcanon on how she feels)

She is the number 2 tamlin hater (second only to Nesta)(I'm sorry but Nesta is the queen of haters - not even in an anti Nesta way that's just her character)

Her and Nesta bicker over who hates tamlin more

She can easily tell Nuala and Cerridwen apart

She can tell you exactly what Nestas mood is by the sound of Nestas footsteps. Same with Feyre, but that's a bit harder for her. This ability upsets Nesta and amuses Feyre

She has flashbacks from PTSD that she sometimes gets mixed up with being visions - the twins are always there for her when this happens

Her and the twins have their own version of "real or not real"

The smell of baked goods can pull her out of either type of episode - hence why she got so into baking during her recovery

To further on the above point - her sense of smell is the one thing her visions doesn't effect

Elain loves making fancy and weird breads - she's gotten to the point where she can just add random stuff with little issue

She has a sourdough starter named after a flower (rose feels too on the nose, but I think she'd like the little flower/flour nod)

Elain loves making the Valkyries nutritious food to eat whenever they need a break from training

Elain and Gwyn end up bonding during Elains trips to deliver food to the Valkyries

First to offer to babysit Nyx whenever Feysand need the help

She's deeply afraid that she'll become "trapped" in her visions again

There is certainly more, but this is a good list for the time being. As I come up with more I'll reblog this post and add them - feel free to add your own headcanons even if you think if disagree, as long as you love Elain (without having to put other women down) you are welcome here!

Also imo some of these are canon but I don't want to argue with anyone so they're falling under headcanon for the time being. I'm sorry if this upsets you but also I gotta try to protect myself from the really exhausting parts of the fandom.

Last, I said it in this post a couple times already but I'll say it again - just bc I headcanon something about Elain doesn't mean that thing is a fully positive trait. I recognize some of my headcanons are neutral/negative (or potentially controversial within the fandom) traits. They are not intended to put down other characters, endorse any potentially bad behavior, or otherwise cause issues.

My HCs:

- As a kid Elain used to sneak into her father’s study to look at all the books and items he acquired on his travels. She would use a candle to read books about far away lands and their cultures and spent time memorising historical events to ask her father about.

- Elain at one stage attempted to learn a couple of foreign languages and would converse with anyone around her that was not monolingual. She started to talk to friends, the staff, and other visitors to the area in their native tongues as well as translated anything she could get her hands on.

- One of Elain’s most treasured items was a map her father got for her from the continent. Before going to bed she would memorise all the cities and landmarks on the maps. She asked her dad about doing a merchanting trip with him when she was all grown up.

-Elain was super academic as a kid and aspired to going to university on the continent. She dreamt of becoming a polyglot and learning how to trade so she could help her father run the family business.

🌿the world needs more gardens🌷

elain's love for flowers/plants goes to a scientific level

and not just that, but soils and minerals - anything that helps them grow

she LOVES BUGS, the grosser the better

one reason is bc she can relate to them as they are often misunderstood as she is, but also because of their importance to maintaining ecosystems

one day feyre find elain in her garden and there's some kind of fluzzy green horrifying-looking caterpillar on her cheek and she alomst shits her pants

elain just laughs and gently remove it and places in on a nearby leaf

she would be the fantasy world equavelent of a botonist/entomologist (if you've ever seen the tv show bones she'd basically the character hodgins)

she would eventually go into the medicinal side of plants, working with Madja finding medicines, cures etc.

even the more nefarious side of plants

Elain Archeron PoisonMaster?? (YES ABSOLUTELY)

plus she super observant which would come in handy with coming up with new ideas for medicines

she sees cassian consistantly rubbing one particular spot between his neck and shoulder. the next day she give him a herbal muscle relaxant salve

she knows when morrigan is about to have her period so she gives her a pain relief that also allows her to go about her day as normally as possible

when rhys' nightmares get particularly bad, and elain notices the bags under his eyes getting deeper. she doesn't say a word but simply leaves some sleeping aids on his desk in his study. rhys sleeps through the night for the first time in months

she give personalised flower bouquets to everyone any chance she gets, amren in particular starts to hoard them in the same way as her jewels

when elain gives flowers to varian for the first time, he officially feel like a part of the group

they don't ask (expect for azriel, nuala, cerridwen and gwyn) but the flowers all have symbolisms that relate to each of of them and she goes full nerd mode explaining it to them

one day cassian comes by and hovers at the edge of her garden while elain works,

he eventually musters the courage to ask her to make one of her special bouquets for nesta for their upcoming anniversary

she doesn't make one herself but instead make cassian sit down beside her while she shows him the extensive catalouge of flowers she grows and the meanings behind them.

She allows cassian to decide for himself which flowers he wants for his mate, choosing the ones that remind him of nesta the most. nesta recieves her bouquet from cassian and tears up when she see the blisters on his hands from when he worked in elain's garden for hours to pick and care for those flowers.

a few weeks later rhys shows up elain's garden, wanting to do the same for feyre

eventually she turns it into a non-profit business, where fae of all kinds come to make their own personalised bouqets for their loved ones under elain's guidance

elain finally finds her home.

Head canon that I consider canon no matter what the books may say: Elain is a stress baker. Flowers aren’t growing? Bake an entire batch of cookies. She put the daises where the begonias were supposed to go? Bakes a cake the size of her head. Her mind is absolutely fucked from everything that had happened in the past year and basically losing all aspects of comfort or familiarity she had except for sunshine and gardening? Makes a seven course meal with at least 3 additional deserts.

Yassss. I can get with this headcanon haha!

Baking was one of the first activities she started doing on her own to get her out of this "funk" she's in and I definitely think she seems to enjoy it. I can see her using it as a way to let out her feels...by filling everyone's tummy with delicious food.

Cassian will come over and find a way to gently stress her out ( "Oh, I wonder why those flowers don't seem to be growing so well?" "Did you mean to put them there?") so she bakes him his favorite cookies. Nesta finds out and kicks his ass but then she'll come over and do the same thing ( "Hmm, Lucien seemed upset this morning. Everything okay?" "I think Feyre is catching a cold, do you think she'll be alright?"). Unfortunately, Rhys catches on and this dramatic ass will just droop his wings and sigh deeply, ( "I think Nyx isn't growing as fast as he should be. I'm worried about what else to feed him that he'll like." Cue Elain stress making a shit ton of food for Nyx (Rhys).

Lucien finally finds out and dares these assholes to try that shit again. Elain bakes him his favorite cookies as a reward.

*Bonus: Helion always asks for her desserts and she happily makes them (stress-free) while Eris just comes and sits in her kitchen squinting until she shares whatever she's making.

These people don't knock on Elain and Lucien's home. They just waltz right in.

Elucien Friendship Headcanons

- Elain and Lucien don't become a thing but they accept that they have a bond. - They instead use the telepathy for other uses. - When Elain has run out of some sort of ingredient while baking and Lucien is out in the city, she asks him through the bond to run a quick grocery trip. - When Lucien is strolling around town and he sees something Elain might need in her garden, he asks her through the bond. - Lucien knows about Nessian happening before the couple even knows all thanks to Elain. - Elain also shares some of the funnier visions she has through the bond. - Like how Cassian is going to mess up the first dinner date with Nesta. - Elain also likes to see the world through Lucien's eyes. - She's extremely fascinated by Lucien's metal eye and just gets excited every time Lucien allows her inside a chamber of his mind. - Elain often asks questions about Prythian that she's too scared to ask out loud. - Lucien is happy to share whatever he can about the carniverous flowers and the ancient creatures that are still prowling around. - They often spend nights together on the couch. - In those nights, they have some sort of hot drink in their hands and sometimes they're quiet and sometimes they talk though the bond. - Elain helps Lucien get through everything that happened with Tamlin. - He starts opening up to her because she's technically the only one who can understand him. - Elain nods in understanding and she tries to soothe him as best as she can through the bond. - She tells him how what happened with Tamlin is in the past but it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went back to help Tamlin either. - Lucien is against it at the start, not quite believing that going to Tamlin would be a good idea. - Elain then shares a vision with him. One where Tamlin is smiling and grinning and that broken spark in the High Lord's eyes is gone. One where Lucien is being warmly greeted by his old friend. - Elain helps Lucien and Tamlin become friends again. After a lot of time and work. - Lucien sometimes shares his fears about the future with her. - Depending on the fear, she shares a short vision of him healthy and happy and Lucien is always calms down after that. - Elain tells Lucien about her own past and how guilty she feels about treating Feyre like that and that she should have done more. - Lucien tells her of the horrible things that his brothers had done to him and the family over the decades. - He explains to Elain that she still has the chance to repair things with her sisters because they've only been alive for a couple decades and have many more centuries ahead of them. - Elain and Lucien are as close as they can get without ever adding any romance into their relationship because they both prefer it that way. -  They're both thankful of their bond because without it, neither of them would have been able to heal properly.

Just imagine—Elain is sleepwalking out of stress, barefoot. She steps onto a shard of glass. Bloody footsteps follow her all the way back home.

(Cassian freaks the next day looking at the dried blood footprints that end outside the manor thinking there’s a blood witch haunting the property. Of course, the house magic had erased the ones inside before anyone saw)

Azriel notices her limping the next day, asks her about it. She doesn’t know.

The next night, Elain is out wandering the streets of Velaris again. No shoes. Just a nightgown. But…

A shawl drapes over her frame.

Slippers slide against her feet.

Shadows gently take that branch out of her face.

Steer her away from that pothole.

A cloud of warmth surrounds her.

And Azriel?

Hands in pockets, Azriel walks at a distance behind her, an invisible string tying her to him. For hours, he does so. Walking down alleyways and dark corners. Glaring at any and every early riser who dares to ogle her. Following her like she was his to follow.

And without ever touching the female, he makes sure she gets home safe.

Elain wakes up to a bruise-free skin and an oddly clear mind.
