Now Announcing The Kaidan Workshop!

What is The Kaidan Workshop?

The Workshop is a community-led project that aims to preserve and build upon the Original LivTempleton Kaidan and Kaidan 2 mods.

Who is working on Kaidan Workshop? Our staff is entirely made up of volunteers from the Skyrim community, and we welcome all levels of participation; from those who simply have a suggestion, to those who have technical and/or artistic expertise.

What will be included in Kaidan Workshop? Kaidan Workshop's content can be easily broken down into three categories; revoice, custom follower interactions, and new content:

Revoice is geared towards re-recording the entire original script from the Kaidan 2 mod, in an effort to integrate missing dialogue from the original Kaidan mod; these will be re-recorded by a new VA and added into the base mod as a new voice type for the character.

Custom Follower Interaction is fairly self-explanatory; this aspect of the Kaidan Project is all about working with other custom follower creators in the Skyrim community to write and produce new interactions and dialogue between Kaidan and their characters. Once permissions have been granted, we will allow the general community to offer input to the writing staff. However, we respect the right of the original content creators to have the final say in the interpretation of their characters and the final script.

New Content revolves around expanding Kaidan’s backstory and his commentary regarding quests, as well as quality of life additions. This is the portion of the project that will see the most community input and engagement; we host periodic Workshop sessions (on our discord) that serve as a forum for members of the Workshop to brainstorm and discuss new ideas for new scripts and quests, as well as for the staff to ask for input on current projects. As these scripts are developed, Workshop Contributors will be able to view the full finalized scripts before they are sent off to our VA for recording; Workshop Spectators, however, will only be able to view a synopsis or small excerpt of the finalized script.

Who will be the new voice of Kaidan?

Currently, we are in the midst of a casting call for our new VA. While Paul Warren (VA of Kaidan in the Caryalind patch) is still being considered, we wanted to afford an opportunity for more community members to suggest other accents and voice types. Our casting call ends March 14th, 2023, 11:59 PM CST.

I have just spent the last 5 hours playing Sirenroot, a mod for TESV Skyrim. And I cannot recommend it more.

Something about it's writing and characters, despite there not being much conversation with them, has impressed me beyond what I thought it would. I've put a lot of hours into Skyrim, TES in general is one of my special interests, but good god.

Please play Sirenroot. It's level design is absolutely breathtaking. It isn't anything new for a modder to blow Bethesda out of the water but it was so genuinely interesting and fun, it's puzzle design was pretty decent to good, and it genuinely felt like a game in it's own right.

Please play Sirenroot. It's a 4 - 5 hour experience in which you and four others delve into some mysterious Aylied ruins that feel like a way more fleshed out and stunning version of Oblivion's, and it's one of those stories where your choices and the time you put in matters. There's multiple endings, a spooky lady, and a cute little crown at the end. It's genuinely like TESV:Tomb Raider in places, and whilst a lot of big narrative mods will take themselves very very seriously, it doesn't. There's some sad bits here and there, but it was very in-tone with the game's writing, and by god did it out-perform most of the vanilla quests.

Please play Sirenroot. It isn't very hard, it's no challenge, most of the enemies won't put up much of a fight but that's not the point. It's a story about a group of adventurers in way over their heads, and you, because you're the dovahkiin, being the only competent one.

Please play Sirenroot. It's free and easy, it's on the Nexus, and it features so many little touches that just itch my brain that I'm going to be thinking of the nostalgia I felt going into an Aylied ruin again for the next week or so.

Please play Sirenroot. You won't regret it.

I say it now, As soon as Elder Scrolls VI comes out, here's the very first 5 mods that will be released on the Nexus:

1) A "realistic" lighting mod, with realistic and overhaul in the title, that makes everything dark as fuck and light sources weak as all shit.

2) A mod that let's you kill children.

3) A mod that let's you marry anyone you want.

4) A mod that makes all armors skimpier and all tits and asses bouncing and huge.

5) A fully voiced, professionally voice acted follower with a original questline to boot... who also happens to be a large breasted scantly clad woman who gets naked at random times and really wants to bang.

Ok so I know I'm not the only one who has no idea how to mod things, and gets by on sheer luck right? So I'm gonna tell you about Wabbajack. They're mod lists/packs for bethesda games, currently oblivion, skyrim se and le, and fallout 4. Now, sadly it's for nexus premium only since it auto installs the mods for you (which is useful when there is literal hundreds (I got the one month one and I'm just downloading whatever I please at this point)).

This is the one I'm using for oblivion and it looks amazing. The instructions are very clear and even I, who can barely use Vortex was able to use it.

Go use it. It's nice

The late Terry Pratchett is best known as the beloved and prolific author of the Discworld novels, but it turns out he spent some time in another fantasy universe, too. Pratchett was an enthusiastic E

Boston-based animator David Oneacre spotted a transcript of cut content from an interview Pratchett gave on The Author Hour radio program in 2009, in which host Matthew Peterson asked Pratchett about his favourite videogame.

“Undoubtedly it’s Oblivion,” Pratchett said.

Pratchett explains that like most games, Oblivion is “dominated by combat,” and while he thought the base game was excellent, what excited him most was user-created content.

“What is so magnificent, and this warms my soul, is the concept of games modding,” he said.

Pratchett was much less interested in following Oblivion’s story than in finding mods that made the world more immersive, and the amount of detail and time modders sunk into their work continuously impressed him. Pratchett enjoyed making cheese and boots and running a little vineyard, complete with seven employees who his character would pay at the end of each in-game week.

“I just enjoy the fact in this world that is rather controlled by commerce, there is this inner world of people giving up their time and effort to perfect some little detail about a computer game for the delectation of others,” he said.

Pratchett’s love of modding was intense enough that he eventually donated writing to a companion mod for Oblivion. Nord alchemist Vilja, who you can find over on Nexus Mods, has more than 130 voice-acted lines of chatter written by Pratchett, and his writing was also used for the Skyrim version (Vilja's "great-great-granddaughter”).

If you needed another reason to love the creator of characters like the long-suffering “wizzard” Rincewind, Granny Weatherwax, and Sam Vimes, here it is. Pratchett’s Discworld novels have been adapted into several officially-licensed games over the years, and Pratchett was involved in the production of each. Perhaps the most successful of these was Discworld Noir, a send-up of classic films like Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon.

Tragically, Pratchett died to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2015 at the age of 66. His daughter, Rhianna Pratchett, continues to write for games, contributing to titles like Mirror’s Edge, BioShock Infinite, and the rebooted Tomb Raider series.
