Mysterious Magical Lake Border
Who knew there was a REAL reason why you can't swim in the mysterious magical lake?
Who knew that this lake was the territory of hungry fish?':³

Roads to an Understanding
"VESPERA!"
Clouds cover the sun dimming the ground below. Waves crash against the rocks below.
"Vespera slow down!"
She dashes through the dry grass to avoid capture. Stella chases after her, leash in hand, calling after her. She had somehow slipped out of her leash during their walk home. Small chirps emits from her like she is mocking her.
To makes matters worse the furball decided that it would be so funny to run near the edge of the cliff. That or the smell of fish is alluring. Whatever it is has her zooming around like she is on a lot of catnip.
That is not why Stella is scare. No, she knows that Vespera won't jump into the water since it's the few things she hates. It's what lurks in the water that scares her. This cliffside is one of the areas he likes to swim in, so she just hopes today he is in his lake.
A few minutes go by of them running in circles before Stella suddenly stops in her tracks. A smile slowly forms on her lips as she reaches in her bag and kneels down. Grass poke her legs leaving a sting that is quickly brushed off. After rummaging for a bit she pulls out small plastic bag and shakes it. Immediately the gremlin halts and rushes over. She paws and screams at her for the fish treats as if she deserves then after the stunt she pulled. Strategically they are given as the leash is placed back around her neck.
A shadow looms over them. Water droplets fall onto her as a sign of different storm appearing. One that you turned your back to when that is the number one thing to not do.
"Just don't make any sudden movements. If I just get a good hold on Vespera then I can make a run for it"
Gripping the collar tight she pulls her to her chest. Calm doesn't last long as one sniff of the air caused her to start squirming for release. Hands fumble against claws as you try you best to not let her loose. She doesn't have enough braincells to compute that a giant fish eldritch will eat her instead of the other way around.
"Why are you here?" Neutron finally speaks up.
This causes both of them to freeze. Well at least that seemed to scare Vespera so she won't run anymore.
"I'm waiting. Or are you going to do what you did a few weeks ago?"
She tries her best to swallow her nerves while keeping her gaze on the ground. All of her weapons are at home since the plan was to stay in town before someone decided to cause trouble. Now she has to find a way to talk herself out of this situation, which will be nearly impossible with how much he hates her.
"I was just shopping in the town and now on my way home. My cat just ran off this way so I came to catch her, that's all," a tremble sneaks into her voice.
"Do you really think I'll believe that?" he asks as he moves one of his tentacles to her side.
"No, I suppose not. Not after everything I had done to you."
It stops right before contact and flinches back. Things stay quiet as your words are processed.
"So you admit it?" he sneers, creeping his whole body a little bit closer.
"That what I have been doing is wrong, yes," she quietly admits.
There is another beat of silence before Neutron asks, "Then why do you do it?"
She doesn't answer as quickly as the last two. Pulling Vespera into her lap so she stops hissing at him over her shoulder, somehow recognizing who he is. Petting her to try to fight off any unwanted feeling from flowing out, she takes a few deep breaths before explaining.
"For money. I need it to survive."
"Then get a job," he says unimpressed.
A weak laugh escapes them from that response, "I have one, but it's not enough to live off of. This one pays a lot more, which is only fair with my life being on the line every time."
The gremlin stirs in her lap, still growling and hissing like the little predator she is. For the danger you're in it's going surprisingly well. Maybe this will be enough to distract him and quickly run away.
"Why don't you ask for help from others then?"
That was one of the things she were hoping to avoid answering, ever. A part of the past that's not worth opening, especially with a eldritch who wants her dead. There is a long pause as she tries to find a way around the answer.
"Well this little being consumes my money instead of making it," she again laughs.
"Anyone else?"
Slowly she shakes her head while holding everything back. Her mouth opens, but nothing comes out. Sensing distress Vespera spring into action with bumping her head against Stella's face while purring. Little paws paw at her chest and arms. Like always this calms her down enough for her to find her words.
"No, it's just me. I lost everyone else."
No other sounds other than the waves dare make a response. How could anyone after an answer like that.
"So this job pays off those debts and my school's. It should be paid off soon though, maybe in a little over a year. Then I'll quit and you'll never have to see me ever again," she adds while getting up.
Trauma dumping could get him off guard and make an easy out. You take one step and his hand grabs onto her shirt. She should tear away and run, but the grip is so gentle that those response doesn't register.
"One year?" he asks, quiet as a whisper.
"Y-yeah"
His grip tightens before releasing her. When she turned around to look at him he was already gone. Wet glass is the only sign that he even existed at all. The fluff creature snuggles closer to her chest with the wind picking up. Taking one last long stare at the ocean, wondering what just happened, she turns away and starts her long trip home.
