#eldritch nightmare

For all of the fandom content I see of Nightmare, I really am surprised at how little of it ever explores any of his abilities outside of the most basic ones. You people are kneecapping my boy, how could you. He could be so incredibly weird and cool and complex all at once! Where is my shapeshifting Nightmare, y'all? Where's Nightmare casually possessing others for his own goals?

These concepts don't have to be mutually exclusive with Dadmare, either. He can regularly use completely off the wall powers and still care about his gang.

Heck, I want to see it done in a BSP, too!

What would happen if OG Dream and Nightmare meets the Eldritch twins? (Or if that is possible)

That's a great question!

Dream: He would find the two utterly horrific - its tot he point that their auras by themselves are enough to make him and Nightmare nauseous. At first, he'd probably feel a short-lived relief that Eldritch Nightmare doesn't hate him or spread negativity actively. He even seems mild mannered and kind! But upon learning that they both have their own Geneva Convention violating habits, he will quickly distance himself from them.

Nightmare: These eldritch twins are SO WEIRD. He does NOT like them. They are too freaky. He can't gaslight and manipulate these two, they're just fucking with him in every conversation. They don't take him seriously. They get on his NERVES somehow more than his own twin. BAD VIBES. GO AWAY.

Eld. Dream: Omg... They're so cute... He is reminded of their 'childhood' when they only did simple mortal things. Protecting a memorial tree, doing errands for the villagers, sleeping in the wild and learning how being a person worked... It's nostalgic! He loves them! He is open to share all the luxuries of the material world with them!

Eld. Nightmare: Eugh... Seeing the two made him feel nostalgic... in a bad way. All the strife of feeling starvation and being beaten by the villagers. The leering eyes of every parent and child when he walked near as their madness set in. But even so, they are technically his brother and himself so he is willing to trade pleasantries. And maybe tease himself a little. He is so weak, its almost funny.

Oohhh I curious, what is Eldritch Dream and Nightmare's backstory? (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠)

Idea: Eldritch Twins game???

I'd imagine if I ever created a game, it would be a point and click adventure with a TON of endings and interactions depending on what items you have or people you've talked to.

And secret endings if you enter certain passwords into dialogue prompts >:)

Nightmare's Story

An ancient eldritch being named Gaia had dreamed of giving birth to children of her own after watching over Earth.

She gave them vessels to live out their days as mortal beings and set them in a place that they would be cared for. Fleeing to protect them, they were left to their own devices under the watch of the Villagers.

But the twins' power was hard to contain in such small vessels and tended to leak out, inflicting the Villagers with madness. Nightmare was ostracized as the object of their fear while they worshipped Dream as their savior.

It wasn't long until things became increasingly violent despite both of their protests.

Nightmare did not take it well. His vessel cracked as his eldritch power surged out, permanently destroying its former shell. He was furious.

Finding Nightmare's tantrum ridiculous, Dream attempted to calm him. "Just make a new one", he said, "killing them is a waste of time." After all, mortals multiply and return with more numbers.

But Nightmare refused to listen to him and continued his slaughter until none were left. And in a fit of rage, turned Dream to stone.

And as hundreds of years passed, Nightmare found a solution: If no one here is loyal to me, then I will find those who are.
