Thank you! I'd like to go back to most of my WIPs, but *Evernote (A note taking and organizational app) literally ate most of my chapter drafts, while at the same time, a LOT of bullshit was happening all at once in my general direction for a few years. And then when I got back on my feet, Chinese sword wizards had taken over my blog roll.

So I ended up with a whole new set of plot bunnies.

I would *like* to go back to (they flow from form to form) and also "Build a Life from Scratch," but it probably won't be for a long while. (Well, longer than it's already been.)

*I am NOT "my dog ate my homework" ing. Everytime there was an update, older notes would degrade and slowly become unreadable. The only reason I stayed with it for so long was that I liked the UI better, but then they decided to make the free tier absolutely useless and the basic tier gradually more expensive.

Series Summary:

A godstuck AU with expansive history and worldbuilding that shifts around to focus on different characters, relationships, and time periods. There is an emphasis on eldritch forms, metaphor-heavy prose, and aspectrum identity, exploring the many different forms relationships and attraction can take. Some characters are the gods of their aspects, while others are mages studying magic.

In the first story, Dirk struggles with a curse, matchmaking, and chronic pain while John, the god of freedom and mischief, takes turns helping and hindering him in his quest. Since then, the universe has expanded with a series of short stories about: Aradia paying a visit to the temple in her new town, the god of Time learning to lean on people beyond his other half as the new universe develops, and the complicated nature of two gods’ relationship over the centuries.

Summary:

It could be argued that Dirk Strider has been cursed since the day of his Choosing, when lightning struck through his Heart and marked him forever more a disciple of what was, in his opinion, undoubtedly the worst fucking aspect. But, if you weren’t feeling so dramatic about it, you could say Dirk has been cursed ever since he almost died.

Forever indebted to his patron god, Dirk is sick and tired of ruining people’s lives playing matchmaker. In order to win his freedom, he just has to set up one last couple. Easy enough; he’s been doing it for years. Except, Dirk’s never had to set up a *god* with someone before, and this one seems to have a lot more interest in driving him insane than falling in love.

They were apparently surprised to see him mentioned in the story.

I am not sure why.

Ok so like. Are all of the gods super involved w their disciples and/or mortals as a whole, or do some of em a bit more removed? Are Terezi n John the only gods who were originally mortals?

oh boy oh boy. so! MOST of the time gods are a little more removed from humanity. you can think of like, greek mythology and the way gods sometimes come down and visit or dick around in disguise but mostly stay up and away. every disciple has met their patron at LEAST once, usually more than once. it all depends on how they train under them and their training process (which starts at thirteen). its different in different places around the world, but where dirks from, he had to learn how to summon heart and thus met with her multiple times during his training. but, once you get past the training phase, unless you get super serious about your magic, its unlikely that youre gonna see much of your god after that, and its not all that often mortals get to see gods other than their patrons (like how dirk had never met another god besides heart before all of this started).

some of the gods are more involved with their disciples than others. like mentioned in the fic, karkat is one of the most responsive. he likes helping people out as much as he can and 9/10 times hell answer. however, rose and dave tend to be more distant and its sort of a tossup if theyll ever respond at all. they really only responded to dirk because karkat and john (two of the people they care about the most) were directly involved and had taken an interest in the situation already.

(some of the gods also have less disciples than others. its not like the difference is so stark that when a mage of light shows up or whatever everyones like omg the chosen one but its WAY more common to find like mages of rage than mages of time or void. this is in part because some aspects (like time) are a little more dangerous (many time mages can get really hurt or cause a lot of problems by screwing around with timelines), and in part because some gods (like void) just dont really like dealing with disciples as much and are generally more distant. however, its more of the kind of vibe of when you meet someone and theyre like “oh yeah im a zookeeper actually” and youre like oh thats pretty fuckin cool because you probably dont know any zookeepers and it seems like a pretty neat gig to get in on but you know there are plenty of them out there being people and shti and youre not sure if you just havent met any zookeepers before or if maybe that person you talked to at the store was a zookeeper and you just didnt know about it ykwim? more often its like, actually legit powerful time or doom mages or whatever are hella rare because if all of them could go around altering lifelines thatd b p not good.)

terezi and john were NOT the only gods who were originally mortals! theyre just the only ones who were like. really truly homo sapiens. kurloz and nepeta were mortal too! there might b someone else im forgetting but im p sure its just that? the og five are like absoluely ancient primordial beings and mituna, feferi, and eridan were just sort of manifested through a side effect of godly magic. (kanaya was also mortal, once, but became immortal because time stopped her clock permanently, basically. shes the very first (yes, first) of the undead)
