DENVER (AP) — The Trump administration is seeking a transfer from state prison to federal custody of a former Colorado county clerk who has become a hero to election conspiracy theorists, the state and one of her lawyers said Friday.

The Colorado Department of Corrections said Friday that it received a letter from the federal Bureau of Prisons regarding Tina Peters on Wednesday. Neither the department nor the Bureau of Prisons immediately responded to a request to provide a copy of the letter but a corrections department spokesperson, Alondra Gonzalez, confirmed the letter was a request to move Peters to federal custody.

A member of Peters’ legal team, Peter Ticktin, said he had seen the letter and also described it as a request to move her to a federal prison to serve out her sentence there.

“It is not to have her released,” he said.

Two Tuesdays in a row featured elections which revealed major polling errors.

Last week we brought up the Michigan Democratic primary for US Senate won by Abdul El-Sayed. Polls had predicted Dr. El-Sayed winning by 10 to 19 points. He did win, but by less than 1 point.

The polling for yesterday's Wisconsin Democratic primary for governor was even more off base.

Wisconsin State Legislator Francesca Hong had been leading in every poll taken since mid-February. In recent polls she had been ahead by as much as a whopping 29 points. Yet she lost to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley by 0.48%.

Granted, there was some confusion during the final month of the campaign. Mandela Barnes and Sara Rodriguez both withdrew. David Crowley suspended his campaign but then jumped back in after those two exited. Nevertheless, Hong maintained double digit leads since the middle of July in the midst of all that reshuffling.

David Crowley will face aging MAGA Republican Tom Tiffany in the November election. Tiffany, a US House member, is an election denier who voted for the "Big Beautiful Bill" and supports Trump's disastrous Iran war.

Crowley would become Wisconsin's first African-American governor if elected. And he has a decent chance. 792,018 Wisconsinites voted for Democratic candidates while only 490,819 voted for GOP ones in Tuesday's primary.

But this latest polling fiasco should serve as a reminder not to take anything for granted or leave anything to chance. If we want victory, we need to be willing to work for it.

Polls don't vote, people vote.

This tweet by Stephen Richer was heart wrenching.

It's NOT okay for MAGA Republicans to make up lies about election officials who are just doing their jobs.

It's NOT okay for MAGA Republicans to stir up their supporters to repeatedly harass an election official--all because they can't admit they lost an election.

And it is certainly NOT okay to do so as a way of staying in the spotlight and soliciting donations--and perhaps auditioning to become Trump's VP. 😬

Ironically, Stephen Richer is a Republican.

But being a Republican didn't save him from being targeted by a corrupt politician like Kari Lake.

It is past time that someone made her accountable for her lies.
