I think that @afunnyfeminist was being quite literal, here (correct me if I’m wrong). Elective abortion is one method of controlling whether or not one gives birth.

Besides that, IDGAF about anyone else’s choices. If it’s someone’s choice to not use birth control and then have an abortion when they become pregnant, it’s none of my business. It’s highly doubtful that people do this intentionally, because: A) At minimum, an elective abortion is usually at least a thousand dollars; B) Dilating one’s cervix doesn’t feel particularly good.

The point is, most arguments revolve around whether an abortion should even be an elective or not, mostly because of some personal beliefs that “all life is sacred,” or some such absurd poppycock. Once you’ve decided that, yes, abortion is acceptable in some cases, you’ve invalidated your former argument. If it’s okay to eliminate the fetus growing inside the raped woman---suddenly, killing is okay in certain cases---then it becomes clear it’s ALWAYS about her choice to eliminate a pregnancy.

Therefore, she should be able to do that for any reason she chooses. Her reasons should not matter to the observer. Of course, that argument comes back around to, it’s her freakin’ body. No one else’s. NO ONE’S.

One needs paperwork in triplicate to prove one can violate a corpse to remove organs which will save lives. The living cannot force any other human entity, living or dead, to support their lives, by, for example, giving blood or organs. But a fetus can? A fetus can have rights which supersede the rights of its “host,” a birthed, grown human being? So, a pregnant person can be forced to carry and grow a fetus for nine months, and then give birth? No. That gives a woman less of a right to bodily autonomy than a corpse. Beyond that, that almost sounds like an imposition of cruel and unusual punishment, if the woman does not want to reproduce. No one should be forced to do these things, no matter the reason.

"Medication abortion accounted for 23% of all nonhospital abortions and 36% of abortions before nine weeks’ gestation, in 2011." Which would mean you're either lying intentionally or ill-informed. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope it's the latter.

The last solid numbers I found were 91.4% of abortions performed at <13weeks, 7.2% of abortions between 14-20weeks and 1.3% at greater than 20 weeks. I hate dealing with %'s though because it takes away from the shocking numbers of murders that take place every year in the US. So, for the duration of my comment, I'll use the term "murder" instead of "abortion".

Here's the breakdown. 2012 saw 699,202 legal murders in the US. 639,070 were performed in the first 13 weeks. 50,342 people were murdered during the 14th-20th week. and the final 6,992 after the 20th week. (For some reason, the CDC was able to have partial numbers and doesn't blatantly list their margins of error, but these numbers are close enough to play with.) Dilation and Extraction: a surgical abortion procedure used to terminate a pregnancy after 21 weeks of gestation. This procedure is also known as D & X, Intact D & X, Intrauterine Cranial Decompression and Partial Birth Abortion.

The government shouldn't tell you what to do with your body. I'm an ultra libertarian, nearly an An-Cap, but society has an obligation to stop one party from using force against another. Murdering someone is within the gov't ability to stop and adjudicate.

As far as adopting children, I am adopted. My mother was a 16 year old pregnant teen and my grandparents were able to support her until she was married and my father adopted me. Luckily I didn't end up as an abortion, or living in a state ran adoption facility.

And yes, the genocide of Native Americans is also covered under the same sociological principles of common purpose and diffusion of responsibility. You could also use the genocide's of Darfur and Rwanda. Or, my favorite example, the genocides of nearly a million children a year by their own parents.

As for rape and incest, this is the favorite cry of those who would seek to continue state sanctioned murder. Anonymous and identified interviews with 1000's of women showed that rape and incest counted for less than a percent of a percent of abortions(That's 1% of 1%). Margaret Sanger - the truth of her movement

How Planned Parenthood Duped America At a March 1925 international birth control gathering in New York City, a speaker warned of the menace posed by the "black" and "yellow" peril. The man was not a Nazi or Klansman; he was Dr. S. Adolphus Knopf, a member of Margaret Sanger's American Birth Control League (ABCL), which along with other groups eventually became known as Planned Parenthood. Sanger's other colleagues included avowed and sophisticated racists. One, Lothrop Stoddard, was a Harvard graduate and the author of The Rising Tide of Color against White Supremacy. Stoddard was something of a Nazi enthusiast who described the eugenic practices of the Third Reich as "scientific" and "humanitarian." And Dr. Harry Laughlin, another Sanger associate and board member for her group, spoke of purifying America's human "breeding stock" and purging America's "bad strains." These "strains" included the "shiftless, ignorant, and worthless class of antisocial whites of the South." Not to be outdone by her followers, Margaret Sanger spoke of sterilizing those she designated as "unfit," a plan she said would be the "salvation of American civilization.: And she also spike of those who were "irresponsible and reckless," among whom she included those " whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers." She further contended that "there is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped." That many Americans of African origin constituted a segment of Sanger considered "unfit" cannot be easily refuted. While Planned Parenthood's current apologists try to place some distance between the eugenics and birth control movements, history definitively says otherwise. The eugenic theme figured prominently in the Birth Control Review, which Sanger founded in 1917. She published such articles as "Some Moral Aspects of Eugenics" (June 1920), "The Eugenic Conscience" (February 1921), "The purpose of Eugenics" (December 1924), "Birth Control and Positive Eugenics" (July 1925), "Birth Control: The True Eugenics" (August 1928), and many others. These eugenic and racial origins are hardly what most people associate with the modern Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), which gave its Margaret Sanger award to the late Dr. Martin Luther King in 1966, and whose current president, Faye Wattleton, is black, a former nurse, and attractive. Though once a social pariah group, routinely castigated by religious and government leaders, the PPFA is now an established, high-profile, well-funded organization with ample organizational and ideological support in high places of American society and government. Its statistics are accepted by major media and public health officials as "gospel"; its full-page ads appear in major newspapers; its spokespeople are called upon to give authoritative analyses of what America's family policies should be and to prescribe official answers that congressmen, state legislator and Supreme Court justiices all accept as "social orthodoxy."
