The last thing I want to suggest to all the Classics nerds traveling to Italy sometime in the future certainly falls under the category of "geography."
Climb Mount Vesuvius.
You get to stand atop the steaming cauldron that killed so many people, staring over the railings trying to get a glimpse of its weapons inside...it's like Augustus' cigarette metaphor from The Fault in Our Stars, except WAY more hardcore.
And you can't beat that view.
