The magic system in Witch Hat Atelier is kinda like programming or maybe electronics. Yeah, it's like electronics -- you take simple components (the four basic sigils) and arrange them to form a more complex structure, just like sticking a bunch of resistors, capacitators and stuff that doesn't do much on its own to form a computer.

Programming too is complex operations broken down into most basic ones

Knowing basic electronic components and how to draw circuit diagrams is great because once you have that you can design cool things and solve problems in a sketchbook
