“It solves plenty of problems,” Soojung swung the comically large chainsaw in front of her, missing Tida with surprising accuracy before she set it down, “Don’t worry, it’s off. I missed my chainsaw, so Eunsoo-unni helped me pick it up. I used to swing this around to scare kidnappers off!” The dysfunctional dynamic of the Lee family would definitely not be lost on Tida: for a family who could clearly afford a lot of security guards and further measures, why was their only daughter fending off interlopers with something so impractical?

the confession catches him by surprise, the tone of their meeting suddenly far more serious. he’d been joking — though perhaps he went a little too far. he was just getting stifled by life again, a life he couldn’t imagine any true reprieve from & it can get a little overwhelming. still, he’d manage how he always does. he just felt bad that he’d somehow worried her.

Soojung lightly headbutted Kyle in the chest, the much shorter girl having her fists balled to her sides as she stared up at him, silent. It was a familiarity stemming from knowing Kyle for nearly her entire life, and when the topic grew darker, she had rather matter-of-factedly said this in response to Kyle’s words. It wouldn’t have felt any different from visiting her father’s grave when he’d faked his own death, but the loss would’ve still been felt fondly.

“Don’t you dare,” she grumbled, huffing and trying to make herself bigger (which...really wasn’t much considering her slender size and puffy sweater), “I’ll tell your family to cut you off. Stop burning you any hell money, and when you run out you’re going to be a hungry ghost.” She paused, her index finger going up contemplatively to her lower lip as she started to think. “...New idea for a short story? A hungry ghost looking for scraps to come by and haunting the people who forgot about them.”
