ダイレクトに衣類に出力する3Dプリンター「Electroloom」

3Dプリンターもついにここまで、という製品がKicksterterにて目標額を達成した。

その名も「Electroloom」。これは、縫い目の無い衣服を作ることの出来る3Dプリンターだ。

「Electroloom」の仕組みはシンプルで、先だってCADにて作成したテンプレート（衣服の型のようなもの）に対して、ポリエステルと綿を混合したナノスケールの繊維素材を吹き付ける。素材は固まると1枚の布になるため、結果として縫い目の無い衣服が作れるという寸法だ。

現在の段階で作れるものは、袋もしくは筒状のシンプルなものに限られており、サンプルとしてはビーニー（帽子）、タンクトップ、スカートが紹介されている。ただし、ノズルから一度に放出できる繊維素材の量に限りがあるため、1つの製品を作るのにほぼ半日ほどかかってしまうようだ。
