Neurological Diagnostic Test | Star Imaging & Path Lab
A neurological test is made up of a series of tests. The tests examine your balance, muscle strength, and other functions of the central nervous system. Central Nervous System (CNS) It controls and coordinates everything you do, including muscle movement, organ function, and even complex thinking and planning.
Whenever you are about to do a test that is new to you, always ask questions. Even if you seem like an annoyance, do it! If you are in pain, complain. It's your body, it's your right to speak. I learned my lesson...
Hey!
So, My name is Ashlee. I am a 20 yr old Jamaican, living and studying architecture here. I've been suffering from pain for the past 8 years of my life. I did a spinal correctional surgery at 12 and since then, my life has been hell. Till this day, no one has been able to confirm the source of my pain but I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Lord knows the things I've been through. Physiotherapy, weekly doctors visits, pain specialists, rheumatologists, reflexology, yoga, allergy testing and living off over 104 things, a gluten free diet, etc. I've been a willing patient on the on the mission to recovery.
So, recently, I went to the neurologist who recommended an EMG (Electromyography test). Now I've been through enough shocks and needles/injections/blood tests in my life to be unperturbed by the idea. I willingly hopped on that bed the test day and the doctor proceeded without any explanation or information to prepare me. That should have been my first sign. -_-
The first few shocks were fine, some were hard to control my reflexes but I came out fine. I thought the worst was over because all that was left was the needle incision and testing and I am eerily used to being poked by sharp objects (architecture student problems). The initial incision was fine but the tension from whatever the hell he was doing was the most painful feeling I've had in a while. He didn't warn me and by the end, I was on the verge of tears and barely able to walk properly.
I made it to the car and took 5 minutes to reach home but by then, the pain had tripled. I could not even lift my leg out of the car and trying to life it caused pain in other muscles. I could feel it seizing up and I knew I could not stay vertical much longer. with my grandparents as crutches, I limped my way to my bedroom; halfway, giving up and breaking into tears. It took me a day to be able to walk again. It'd been a week and still some of the puncture points have either swollen or have a black ring around them. Just wondering if any of this is normal because I am quite ready to return to that place and poke that man with his own needles. My acupuncturist gave me permission and I think that along with my scars and story is legit enough to get some sort of pleasure from stabbing the guy with his own needles.
