"Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a top Trump adviser, insisted on X that the explosion had nothing to do with the vehicle.
"We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself," Musk declared. "All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion.""
Calgary police are looking into what they believe are two separate arsons linked to Tesla vehicles in the city this week.
Two Tesla vehicles were set on fire in what Calgary police believe are separate, intentional incidents this week.
Acts of vandalism against the electric vehicle manufacturer have multiplied since U.S. President Donald Trump took office and appointed Elon Musk to oversee the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been slashing government spending and programs.
Investigators say they believe the two fires are connected.
Musk says the administration is going to “go after” people pushing lies about Tesla. This guy gets more obnoxious each day that passes. I have nothing but contempt for him. He's a disgrace!
The internal combustion engine’s days may be numbered in California, where officials are mulling whether a ban on sales of polluting autos is needed to achieve long-term targets for cleaner air.
In part, this may be an effort by Governor Brown to confront the trump administration and the EPA in the EPA’s plan to revisit the auto emission standards, and possibly eliminate the decades long waiver given to California allowing the state to establish its own emission standards. In other words: if you mess with our established emission standards, go ahead, because we’ll ban the emission-generating vehicles from our state.

The internal combustion engine’s days may be numbered in California, where officials are mulling whether a ban on sales of polluting autos is needed to achieve long-term targets for cleaner air.
Governor Jerry Brown has expressed an interest in barring the sale of vehicles powered by internal-combustion engines, Mary Nichols, chairman of the California Air Resources Board, said in an interview Friday at Bloomberg headquarters in New York. The earliest such a ban is at least a decade away, she said.
Brown, one of the most outspoken elected official in the U.S. about the need for policies to combat climate change, would be replicating similar moves by China, Franceand the U.K.
Embracing such a policy would send shockwaves through the global car industry due to the heft of California’s auto market. More than 2 million new passenger vehicles were registered in the state last year, topping France, Italy or Spain. If a ban were implemented, automakers from General Motors Co. to Toyota Motor Corp. would be under new pressure to make electric vehicles the standard for personal transportation in the most populous U.S. state, casting fresh doubts on the future of gasoline- and diesel-powered autos elsewhere.
