Andreas Embirikos - Elefsina, Gracia
I saw that somebody previously asked about folk costume here and was thinking about shooting my shot: how do you feel about folk costume from Eleusis? And do you have any examples of it? I’ve seen a lot of pictures of folk costume from Megara, but not really Eleusis/Elefsina; so I’m curious if you know anything about it
The reason there is so little content available about the costume of Eleusis is likely the fact that the original attire was quite different than those of the surrounding regions of Attica (i.e Megara) or Salamina island. However, it progressively adopted more and more elements from the other Attican costumes, somewhat losing its initial look. The scarce artwork and pictures we have available nowadays show its more recent look and not so much how it was originally.

A tradition rooted in the worship of ancient Greek agriculture and harvest goddess Demeter, the "polysporia", revived again this year in the area of ancient Eleusis, on the eve of the Virgin Mary's Presentation (Nov. 21), on Wednesday. According to the Folklore Association of Elefsina "Adrachti" (Spindle), which is responsible for the annual event and spoke to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), residents of the area gather at the local folklore museum with boiled legumes and wheat, based on a tradition of offering the type of crop each family cultivated. They bring them to the museum, where they are again boiled together, with the addition of grape molasses, pomegranate and raisins. The final product, called "polysporia", is then distributed in small plastic cups after the evening liturgy, or around 5:00 p.m. to worshippers at the Church of Panagia Mesosporitissa, which crowns a hill in the ancient cult center of Demeter. Linking ancient to modern, the church was built over the ancient Telesterion, where Demeter would have been worshipped, and over an even earlier version of the church. The theme of the tradition can be traced to antiquity of several civilizations, and was meant to celebrate and offer prayers for the fertility of the earth, guaranteeing good crops.

A haunted roof in my hometown. I’m starting to love this method a lot. I thought I’d experiment using @seiyoko‘s notes as a starting point a few weeks back, and now I think I’ve come up with a way of paintover that is to my liking. Imma turn the whole town into a nightmare yasss (now time to finally learn how to incorporate some movement?)
(my nightmares are very colourful. in fact this is pretty close to what is a regular nightmare colour scheme for me)
