She occasionally burst out with cynical little witticisms like that one that made him spare a second glance. Here, he scoffed, giving a languid shrug of his shoulders. “I liked my old man well enough. Think my kids liked me, before I killed them.” If she really wanted to be so cynical, so sarcastic, so could he. Probably meant they had serious issues that this was their discussion topic right now, but that was no surprise.
Scuffing the roof with his boot, he crossed his arms, leaning back against a brick pillar and tilting his head away from her, eyes tracking their target as he shopped with his daughter. “Don’t be bitter that Daddy’s spoiling his Princess.” he muttered, the words coming out a touch crueler than he intended, but he didn’t take them back.
