Extremely bizarre thrift find: an in-package Elektrokidz from 2013, which is a fun little troll doll that uses volume detection to shake its hair to the beat. This one specifically seems to be from the first wave/release, because further iterations lose their more troll-like facial features (but are now very clearly aware of Dreamworks Trolls at this time, I spy king Trollex on the far right)
DW had been developing the concept for the trolls movie since 2010 and filed the trademark for Trolls in February 2013, but the movie didn't come out until 2016, while these Elektrokidz were trademarked in August 2013 and released in 2014 according to USPTO, meaning these guys were already making product associating trolls dolls+2010's pop music novelty two years before DW even shared anything they had been working on. I have to wonder if someone walked away from the development team to try and realize the idea themselves, or if this is the original source that DreamWorks plucked the idea from, or if it's a case of convergent evolution/the trademark being up for grabs. Either way, the promotional video for these toys is actually a fever dream:
