But don’t expose developer to Rainbow High hair. It strips the colour. Or at least it did to my poor Cheer Jade.

Yes it is hair developer. This is my first experience with it lifting colour from doll hair. I use it to remove staining on dolls all the time. It doesn’t touch saran hair at all. But the hair RH dolls have is another story I guess. The piss off is that the developer wicked up the hair from the inside of the head.

So comparing the dolls used in the Princess and The Pauper doll dioramas with Mattel dolls made around the time, and it’s interesting how many dolls they pulled from the archives with modified paint and hair.

In spring 2020 I was going to attend an anime convention that obviously Did Not Happen, so I spent some of the money I’d set aside for that on an anime doll instead. I happened to find both the head and body I wanted readily available for a good price - 55cm Obitsu with a Parabox Sleeping Princess head. I’ve never had a soft vinyl/internal skeleton doll before, but they’re very fun! I was going for Animal Crossing vibes with her faceup (hence no eyebrows) but you can tell that the anime style thing isn’t my wheelhouse, haha.

The Disney Store Alice and Wendy Darling has been some of my favourite play line dolls released in a long time so I’ve been wanting a third character to go with them. And Princess Eilonwy just bubbled up to the top of the list. I know I resented rerooting Eilonwy in a different blonde but I do like how her darker blonde looks with Alice and Wendy,

With all due respect there's been a surge of lots of new bjd collectors that are trying to make furry BJDs (like anthro animals). It would be great and all if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of these sculpts have very ummm uncomfortably sexual art styles? (if you've seen furry art you know what I'm talking about. The art itself isn't pornographic but it's how they make/detail certain body parts look). It's just so uncomfortable to look at. It's supposed to be cute but it looks awkward or is really uncomfortable to look at. The newest one I saw on the marketplace was going for a "chibi-esc" look but the creature had detailed 6-pack and was sculpted in such a way that it actually make it better if it did have a big ol' veiny chode. That thigh gap was HUGE I tell you! Just very uncanny valley.

I am now wildly interested in seeing these dolls. I haven't really kept my finger on the pulse of anthro bjd so there's probably a lot of them I haven't seen at this point.

"Uncomfortably sexual" can be pretty subjective, but I tend to think of the "standard" anthro bjd as being in the same vein as Pipos Baha or the Zuzu Delfs.

Having more options for dolls representing older characters sounds like a plus.
