My son pulled the most epic get out of a homework assignment yesterday...
His third-grade class has a pet hamster that they take care of and he told me he didn’t want to bring it home and laid out a good case for why we shouldn’t- His little brothers could open the cage, leave it open, the pet could get out, get lost, or get broken by the puppy we adopted in Feb (who is now one year old but he could pounce on this thing and kill it). He laid out his case well so I agreed and signed the permission slip that said no home care.
At pickup on Friday, his teacher tells me they have a stuffed bear that is an alternative pet for the students to take home and take care of, (red flag, stuffed animals are less safe from our dog) and she tells me she was going to give it to Max for the weekend but when she tried to hand it to him in class, he blurted out, “that thing is possessed and I’m not bringing that evil into my house.”
I immediately start laughing thinking in my head this is probably not the best time to quote Supernatural and say, ‘but we’re teddy bear doctors on Thursdays.’ Sam did this in my head, not gonna lie. \/
So instead, I look at Max, “you didn’t.” (I’m totally still trying to keep a straight face. Poorly.)
The teacher goes on that he said, “it was probably a demon and he wasn’t messing with any of that.”
I tell Max, “dude, you can’t say stuff like that around the other kids, you might really scare them.”
The teacher tries saying “it’s serious...”
Max cuts her off and says, “I know, I’m serious, I’ve done my research and there’s documented cases.”
The teacher tells me because of this, Max couldn’t take the bear home this weekend and I apologized to her for any parent calls asking why their kid is talking about demons, I’ll talk to max more at home about not talking about possessions and demons in school. In my head, I’m completely losing it because he totally got out of a lame homework assignment with probably the most epic excuse. I wish I had thought of that when I was in school.
I kept laughing randomly for an hour after this.
When my husband got home from work last night and I told him, we were both laughing for like fifteen minutes. It was amazing.
Is it weird to think my kid is awesome for this?
I’ve created a monster and I know it but it’s so damn funny.
okay so can i like. confess something or wtvr
when i was little in elementary school (it was like, 1st or 2nd grade) there was this girl that told our whole class/grade that she was pregnant and i remember SO vividly that i genuinely didn't believe it. like i didn't know how babies were made but i knew it couldn't be true and got SO MAD because EVERYONE believed her.
now flashback to now i still wonder if everyone actually believed her or if i was just being rage baited by everyone.... was i never let in on the joke??? hello??? to this day i am still quite confused about it
