Since the revelation that she was not as far away from the supernatural here in New Orleans as she may have thought, Elena had already seen Damon twice now. While she had come to appreciate his presence (not without a heavy dose of bickering and reality checks, of course) it had left a whole heap of questions on her mind, none of which weighed quite as heavily as where is Stefan? It had sprung to mind the second she had turned on the street to see Damon’s smirking face, though at the time she had initially assumed the eldest Salvatore had made been making an appearance because something was wrong.

Once the dust had settled, she was ashamed to admit she was almost disappointed that she had been wrong – Stefan was fine, and he was ‘around’… but he hadn’t come to see her. The fact that Damon had been the one looking out for her didn’t quite sit right.

While she realized that Stefan really had no reason to seek her out (hadn’t she been the one to call it off?) it didn’t stop her from feeling hurt that he hadn’t bothered. If the situation was truly as dangerous as Damon had made it out to be, with Klaus potentially lurking around every corner, there was no way that Stefan wasn’t aware.  Elena realized she had probably hurt him – no, definitely hurt him – but was that really all it took to just not care at all?

Perhaps she was being irrational, but it really didn’t seem to take that much to get Elena fired up these days, did it? Once she had realized that Damon wasn’t staying in one of presumably many properties under the Salvatore name, it wasn’t hard to track Stefan down to an Inn. Upon being rejected phone call or admittance to his room, Elena opted for the only thing left in her power to do, which was get cozy in the lobby and wait for him to come in or out.

Sure, she was upset, but even above that, she wanted to see him. Yes, leaving had been for the best, but it wasn’t like she had run back to Mystic Falls, was it? He was here, she was here – totally acceptable grounds for visitation, right?

Though she had had plenty of time to prepare her case, the moment he entered the room,  any semblance of a structured thought turned to mush. She hadn’t been prepared for the way he knocked the wind out of her. 

Opening her mouth, she gaped for a moment before stuttering on silence and regaining her composure as she unfolded her legs and climbed out of the chair. “Where have you been?” She asked, her voice too quiet, her tone too soft to elicit the fire she had intended in the thousands of imaginary scenarios that had played out in her head while she was waiting. The lobby was hardly an appropriate place to have this conversation, but it would have to do as her sleuthing skills had ended at finding the right address.

What was the point of saying "during prom a couple is going to share a dance to the infamous Rihanna-Stay" if it had no meaning. I mean the dance was intense and even in her most emotionless state, it seems that Elena still feels so much for Stefan. Did I miss something? At what point did she even like Damon? That motel kiss? Well I mean we all feel things sometimes to the people we get close to, but in the end (season 3 end) we run back to those who we are truly in love with. That feeling you get when you look at someone and just feel like you are at home, all cozy and soft inside! And for the delena fans that say Stefan doesn't like her as a vampire means that he doesn't like her for who she is, is very very wrong. He doesn't want her to stay a vampire because she is just like him. Selfless, caring for those around her, ready to give up her life (which she did) for her friends and family. And he knows that being a vampire will intensify the pain and make it difficult to stay a predator because in the end a vampire will kill, whether by accident or because of blood cravings. And for both Stefan and Elena that causes so much pain and grief. See Katherine and Damon love to take care of themselves, and only care what happens to them. Well Katherine earned the right seeing as she had a child when she was around 16 that was taken away from her, left the country to learn a new language all by herself (and remember she is just a kid at this time) only to find out that a crazy vampire wants to kill her and eventually killed her whole family. She has the right to become selfish since her life is built around self preservation. Damon on the other hand is still a child. He can't bring himself to understand that sometimes in life you don't get what you want so you should grow up and move on. Instead he throws childish tantrums and then kills people -_- so hot indeed... How is it possible that the writers decided Elena should be with him I will never know, I guess because the fans think he is "hot" or w.e. But he DEFINITELY did not earn the right to "get the girl"...also how sad that's all he and everyone seems to think about. Does no one realize that Elena is severely depressed? No... she is just "boring". I am sorry that losing all your family and yourself makes you "boring". Also how funny that the only way Damon can really get the girl is to have Stefan removed from her life so that she forgets him, or sire bond... that's just...well that's true love am I right?

Well, that’s a hard question to answer at the moment but I’ll try my best. Do I think there is hope for Stelena in the future? Yes, but not in the way we are used to from them. Stelena as we know and loved them over the years is gone. The Elena we know died on that bridge in 3x22 and I’m pretty sure that by the time Stefan gets out of that volt at the bottom of the lake that he’ll forever be changed too. The whole story of the vampire diaries revolves around the triangle according to JP so there always has to be hope for Stelena in the future. I know that they’ll get back together at one point in time and maybe they will be endgame but I just can’t make myself think about that right now. Julie Plec destroyed everything that was good and holy about Stelena. They used to be an epic love but now that’s gone because apparently you can have more than one epic love in your life. Stefan used to be the one who made her want to live (Season three finale, you should choose the person who makes you glad that you’re alive) and now she told Damon that he’s the one who makes her feel most alive. So, everything Stelena stood for is gone, buried, and dead with no hope of resuscitating. When Stelena gets back together it’s never going to be the same and they’ll never be the ‘core romance’ of the show that they were portrayed as in season one, two and partially three. So, to make a long story short, I would say that there's hope for a future Stelena but not the one we know and grown to love over the years! Thanks for the ask!
