hi! im an incoming freshman at SU ('19) & im probably going to be housed at Hassinger. i was wondering what kind of amenities they have, pros & cons, how big the rooms are? i'm trying to get a single & my options are smith & hass & specialasexualdalecooper has warned against smith for obvious reasons... Thanks SO much!!!
Hello! I was an RA there last year, and I loved it (I kind of am hoping to be an RA there again next year, so there is a small possibility you might be my resident!). I’ll just break this down into categories, since it’ll be easier.
Room heating/cooling units
Not too many people sharing a bathroom
Location: right next to the library and the gym, so it’s close to two different food places (Clyde’s and the Scholarly Grounds).
Two nice common rooms (one enclosed on the second floor and one open on the third)
There is an awkward shower set up where there is a shower curtain, then a large “changing area” (shared between both showers) where you hang your towels and such, then there is the actual shower, so I felt slightly awkward with that, but it was not a terrible thing
The rooms aren’t the biggest, but the singles in Hass are really a very comfortable size (they used to be doubles and those were way too small)
Only two washers and three dryers for the whole building
Not as close to Deg as the other freshmen dorms
I will happily answer any other questions you have! Do you have a major in mind yet?
