I know Eleusina is not one of the most touristic places, nor its ruins the most famous, but I really wanted to see them and asked Dim to take me there. Because I always was so curious about the "Eleusinian mysteries", this alternate religion centered about Demeter and Persephone. The ruins we visited was the temple and surroundings. I learnt a lot and found in the cave (called Plutonium, yes 😆) leftovers of the typical offerings, like pomegranates.
The museum gave me even more insight, it had beautiful pieces that help picturing better how big and great Eleusis used to be.
Sadly now it's an industrial town surrounded by factories 😞
Lost this book over 2 yeas ago and found it right before my trip to the west coast. Starting from the beginning because why not. Sometimes we have to start from the beginning, I guess I seem to do that a lot. ;) Gordon Wasson was a banker(maybe CIA backed even, the theories are more complex then this book will tell) & honestly I care less about his vision and history but more about what Carl A P Ruck have to say and Hoffman too. Wasson opened the flood gates for white people to pounce down into Mexico and steal(appropriate) and reduce sacred, religious ceremony of the Mazatec people's to a mere trip. White people have a thing of 'ruining' sacred plants and medicine and profiting of them. Tobacco anyone? Ok, but in all honestly ethnomycology in all it forms is rad. Because we aren't taught anything about mushrooms in general, and coming to a realization that we have such a deep history of use with them for food, medicine and ceremony only makes my love and passion for them stronger. Because it's in our DNA and we share this with EVERYONE. Across continents and cultures. It's beautiful. Μια δυνατή συνεργασία ήρθε για να μείνει. Το Οινόμελο της Oinomelos και το Καφεμεζεδοπωλείο Μαγατζές ξεκινούν την κοινή τους πορεία.
Στην καρδιά της Ελευσίνας, στην κεντρική πλατεία της, θα βρεις ένα μικρό Κρητικό μεζεδοπωλείο, έναν καλά κρυμμένο θησαυρό, όπου οι εμπνευστές του θέλησαν να φέρουν την αυθεντική Κρητική παράδοση και να την προσφέρουν σε όποιον το επισκεφτεί.
Ο χώρος του μικρός και απλός, με παραδοσιακό μωσαϊκό πάτωμα, ξύλινες καρεκλίτσες και άνετα τραπεζάκια σε μεταφέρουν σε παραδοσιακό καφενείο του 1950, τοποθετημένο σε κάποιο χωριουδάκι της Ορεινής Κρήτης. Η ατμόσφαιρά του ζεστή και φιλόξενη και ένα προσωπικό πάντα χαμογελαστό και εξυπηρετικό, είναι μόνο λίγα από αυτά που το κάνουν πόλο έλξης για κάθε λογής ηλικίες και για κάθε γούστο.
Οι συνταγές του όλες αυθεντικές Κρητικές, είναι φτιαγμένες με μεράκι και μαεστρία σαν τις υπέροχες συνταγές της βέρας Κρητικιάς γιαγιάς. Σφακιανή πίτα με μέλι, χειροποίητα ντολμαδάκια, κολοκυθοανθοί γεμιστοί με ρύζι, λουκάνικο γεμιστό με γραβιέρα είναι μόνο λίγοι από τους μεζέδες που μπορείς να δοκιμάσεις, ενώ μην παραλήψεις το Γαμοπίλαφο και τους Χοχλιούς του στιφάδο. Οι γεύσεις θα σε συνεπάρουν και σίγουρα θα θες να ξαναπάς.
Οι πρώτες του ύλες, φρέσκιες και προσεγμένες έρχονται κατευθείαν από την Κρήσσα γη. Ενώ συνεργάζεται με επώνυμες κρητικές εταιρείες, όπως η εταιρεία Χάσικος, διασφαλίζοντας έτσι την ποιότητα των προϊόντων του, ώστε να τα προσφέρει με ασφάλεια στους θαμώνες του.
Αν είσαι τυχερός τη μέρα που θα το επισκεφτείς, μπορεί να συναντήσεις παλικάρια να παίζουν λύρα και λαγούτο, τραγουδώντας όμορφες μαντινάδες και να δίνουν στην διασκέδαση μια άλλη διάσταση που σίγουρα αξίζει να βιώσεις, ένα βραδάκι στον Μαγατζέ.

Το Οινόμελο έχει τις ρίζες του στην αρχαία ελληνική παράδοση, ενώ οι αναφορές που υπάρχουν από τον Ιπποκράτη αλλά και από την εμφάνισή του σε συμπόσια, μας έχουν δώσει πολύτιμες πληροφορίες για τη διατροφική του αξία που πίστευαν και πολύ σωστά όπως αποδείχτηκε ότι έχει.
Αξίζει να αναφερθούμε ότι στον Μεσαίωνα η παράδοση ήθελε κατά τον μήνα του μέλιτος το νεόνυμφο ζευγάρι να πίνει οινόμελο το οποίο χαλάρωνε των αναστολές του και συνέβαλε στην επιτυχημένη εκκίνηση του γάμου καθώς, συμβόλιζε την γονιμότητα και την καλή υγεία.
H Oinomelos έπειτα από έρευνα ετών και πολυάριθμες δοκιμές, δημιούργησε ένα καινοτόμο, κατοχυρωμένο προϊόν με βάση τον οίνο αναδεικνύοντας γευστικές νότες μελιού. Είναι ένα φυσικό προϊόν, χωρίς προσθήκη ζάχαρης, με μοναδική γεύση.

This is the center of the archaeological site of ancient Eleusina.The Telesterion was square building were the worship of goddess Demeter was taking place as well as the Eleusinian mysteries,a series of rituals which the content was known only to those who were taking part.It was happening during September and lasted 9 days. It was built during the times of Periklis (late 5th century BC) according to the designs of architect Iktinos who also build Parthenon. The Telesterion (teleti means ritual so the word comes from that root) was surrounded by seats where the members of the eleusinian mysteries were seating to watch the rituals. The seats were carved from the hill of the area. The most official type of Telesterion started to be build during the times of Solon in 600 BC and it continiously expanded through time. The building has 42 columns in 6 rows and supported the architraves and the roof had a hole in the center for the lighting of the building.It was also the adyton,the sanctuary where the sacred objects were stored for the ritual ceremonies.
