That old Noldorin Height Chart take 2: Silmarillion Height Chart! I've been drawing a lot of full body pieces for the color palette challenge, so I compiled them into this handy-dandy chart. (Hence the semi-random selection of characters...) In order, from left to right: Turgon, Argon, Elrond, Maglor, Maedhros, Fëanor, Eöl, <random character for comparison>, Elwë, Luthíen, Dior, Curufin, and Celegorm. Please note that some characters' heights don't appear exact because they are slouching/crouching/wearing high heels. (Thanks, Celegorm.) Thingol, Argon, Turgon, and Maedhros' heights are mostly canonical, especially in terms of height order, though exact heights are so-so. Luthien's and Dior's are extrapolated based off of Thingol's and the dilution of his blood, Elrond's is a middling one based off of the Numenoreans, and the Feanorians are pretty much a mix of extrapolation, estimates, and headcanons. (For serious discussion and actual references of most of this, see the Noldorin Height Chart linked above). Someone commented yesterday that for Tolkien, height seems directly proportional to nobility. This seems very true (ref above, the noble Elendil is stated to be a whopping 7'11" where most Numenoreans topped out at 7'), but it seems to be generally the case that his races/peoples in general decreased in height through the Ages. (Hmm...six foot tall dwarves? lol) Original art is here: Turgon&Argon Elrond Maglor&Maedhros Feanor Eol&Thingol OC Luthien Dior&Curufin Celegorm
