48 years ago today, on Sept. 15th, 1977, The Silmarillion was published. To celebrate my favourite book, here is a brand new photo of one of my favourite Silmarillion characters: Thingol King of Doriath and Lord of Beleriand.
It was a rather spontaneous decision to bring Thingol to our the_eldar_cosplay vacation at Nienhagen in August. My first thought when thinking about a shoot in woodland is always my OC Kelundir. But I have loads of photos of him already and the ghost forest (Gespensterwald) at Nienhagen is pretty special – definitely special enough for the Lord of Beleriand. ;)

Do you have any ideas what the Avari Elves would look like in your Eldritch AU? Would they be smaller (cause iirc, Elves from Valinor are taller than those from Middle Earth)? Would they have animal hides?

You're not being annoying at all, don't worry!! I love receiving your questions about the AU! Helps me develop the lore hahaa XD
As for the Dark Elves, @overlord-of-fantasy had an idea about them that I really like! You can find it here; they'd indeed wear animal hides and pelts/furs, and their masks could also reflect animal faces to better help with camouflage. I also think they'd be smaller, like you suggested - and this finally gave me the push to draw the different Elven clans lmaoo (using Beren as my human height comparison once again XD)
The Dark Elves are on the left! Morwe and Nurwe are apparently from (likely) abandoned drafts, but I decided to use the names anyway XD And the coloured lines are meant to represent the clans' jewellery styles!

Silm Fae AU - Elu Thingol || @sindarweek 2025: alternate universes
Given his "winged moon" heraldry, I think these Malaysian moon moth wings are *perfect* for him. He's the silver moon king!
Given his decided neutral palette and understated wings, I think he could wear so many colors, and as much jewelry and fancy clothes as he wants!
Ok but imagine the Noldor trying to have a nice banquet after the entire Finwean Fam has been therapized and released from Mandos. Except Eonwë is the one announcing the names and titles as people arrive (it’s supposed to be a sign of goodwill from the Valor).
All goes well (except when he announces to the entire room that “Fingon Findékano Astaldo Nolofiniwion, Prince of The Noldor and Husband of Maedhros Neylafinwë Maitimo Feanorian” has arrived. In his defense, Eonwë didn’t know secret marriages could last almost four ages). But the Real Drama starts when Elrond arrives.
When Elrond arrives; Eonwë looks at the Peredhel in the entranceway, looks at his magic Scroll of Heritage-Information, and there is a long moment of silence where Eonwë contemplates if he really wants to spend 5 whole minutes announcing Elrond’s heritages.
Eonwë, in the end, decides to take a shortcut. Cuz how wrong could it go? As such, he announced to the Finwean Fam, several courtiers, several politicians, and to the face of Finwe’s actual children that “Elrond, Lord of Imladris Remade, Descendant of Finwë Noldoran and Elwë Singollo, and [Insert Celebrian’s Introduction] has arrived.”
Speculations rise, and whispers are everywhere about what the hell “Descendant of Finwë and Elwë” could mean. (A lovechild, somebody says once jokingly).
Elrond was expecting Earendilion, Neylafinwion, or Kanafinwion, even Peredhel. He was not expecting the first kings of the Noldor and Sindar themselves to be named.
Anyway, the worst part is that because of Mixed Ancestry, Elrond actually does look like a combination of Finwë and Elwë. The lovechild rumors grow.

Why did Melian the Maia leave Doriath
She only really cared about Thingol and Lúthien and they were dead or mortal
Eru encouraged her to leave, as her part in his plans had ended
The girdñe of Melian was made out of her love for Thingol and powered by it
Melian refused to rule over Children of Ilúvatar as that is wrong
Thingol for La Perla 👑 \any resemblance to real people is not accidental, but if it’s not there, it’s even better :D\
