so since you're so into DA lore i thought you might take interest in a thought i had. since ancient elves had basically unlimited access to both magic and supply routes and didn't exactly need to build things the same way people without magic have to, would it be possible that they simply did not have math that used numbers? it seems unnecessary, and it would also hint at another reason why they lost everything so easily imho
Huh... that’s a really interesting thought. If you think about it, humans use numbers and math to describe reality because we don’t HAVE an “objective sense” that allows us to directly experience it--we have to translate it into a universal language first.
But then if you can just look at the world and understand it on a fundamental level because you’re literally a part of the Fade around you, and your every thought--”the roof would be cooler if it was at this angle”--becomes reality, then what reason do you have to learn trigonometry or algebra? You don’t need to translate your measurements because what you imagine just IS.
I think you might be on to something, tbh.
