I'm sorry it took me a while to finish, but I just watched the episode a day or two ago. So here it is! I really hope you enjoy it!!!
Warnings: Cursing; Guilt; Mention of Radiation Death
The whole day had been terrible. Everyone was running around frantic to try and keep the peace that was going thin in Sanctum. The Children of Gabriel were fighting the Faithful.. The criminals from Eligus were angry at their living quarters. Of course, on top of all that, the nuclear reactor was almost to its melting point. Radiation was beginning to seep out. Raven had to fix it.
Raven chose four of the criminals to seal the pipes that were letting the radiation out. Murphy and Emori were supposed to lift the rods. All while Raven monitored the whole ordeal. But, as usual, things didn't go as according to plan as hoped. The four men died. Though, Raven had good reason for her actions, the deaths were put on her. The men's people blamed her. She blamed herself. The pressure of the moment left her completely devastated.
She came back home late that night, well past twelve. Her eyes were red and swollen. Her hair was a mess, strands strewn all over her face. She looked exhausted. You had tried to get her home much earlier. Her anger and guilt causing her to lash out as she shooed you away. You left, knowing she needed time to process what had happened. She'd come home when she needed you. And she did.
"Oh, honey." You quickly got out of bed to meet her by the door. You wrapped your arms around her tightly as she stood in the entrance.
"I don't know what I was thinking." You shushed her, patting her hair before stumbling towards the bed together.
"It's alright, honey. Just lay down, and don't think."
"I just see his face... against the glass. They didn't even know.... I did that." Her voice was hoarse and quivered.
"Honey, you had to fix the reactor. Everyone would of died. That man's wife would have died. He would of died. It's not your fault. Besides, we've all done things to save our people - to save mankind. You did what had to be done."
"But what if there had been another way? They may not of had to die." A few tears were beginning to slide down her cheeks.
You reached up, brushing away the teardrops. "Honey, if you had taken the time to find something else, their deaths would of happened anyways. Along with all of ours. Please. Don't beat yourself up over this. This was not your fault.... Just think about how many times Clarke has done this."
"Yes, Clarke has done this plenty of times. Doesn't mean it's ok."
"I know. But, it means that you're not a monster. Not even close. You're a savior. You've saved us once again after countless times. I don't know what we'd do without you."
Raven sniffled. You could tell she was still upset but was beginning to calm down and see it from your point of view. Her mind was still plagued by the images and 'what if's. But, you knew she'd be ok.
She laid down, tugging you with her. A kiss was placed by your eyes as she cuddled into your side. "Thank you."
"Of course, my love. Goodnight."
"Sleep tight."
"Don't let the bedbugs bite."
In her tired stupor, she chuckled. "I love you."
"And I love you."
