End of the World || eli + eva
Eva felt like someone had chopped off her right hand.
She didn’t know where she’d managed to leave her phone at the club that night, but when she stepped outside and went to check her messages, she realized she had nothing in her hand. In her overly intoxicated state, she was decreeing this as the worse thing that had ever happened to her. It had happened, of course, one night when she’d gone out alone. Most of the time, especially in the past few weeks, you rarely saw her out at night without Xander, but this night she’d had some strange desire to be alone. Well, alone surrounded by a bunch of drunk humans at a night club.
Maybe it was the alcohol (probably it was the alcohol) but Eva didn’t try to get help at the club when she retraced her steps and tried to find her phone. She didn’t try to hail a taxi, she didn’t try to borrow anyone’s phone. Instead she walked through the crowds of people out celebrating the weekend and ended up inside a bar she was definitely overly dressed to be in.
She stumbled up to the bar, nearly knocking over a couple other patrons in the process, making a beeline for the only familiar face in the room. Things had been a little odd whenever she saw Eli since he and Vee had split up, but her alcohol addled brain only had one mission and that was to find someone she knew and trusted to help her.
“Elijah,” she addressed him, her voice laced with concern. Her face looked scandalized, as if she’d seen something terrible. “Something awful has happened.” She paused, dramatically, which may or may not have been on purpose.
“I’ve lost my phone and I can’t call an Uber.”
