It was only after the plume of smoke went off against his head that Kang realised what was going on. He had been hit by something and that was quickly followed by what he could vaguely discern as three dark figures coming towards him. It all lined up with the rumours of attacks, but they were supposed to be only rumours!
Shit! Kang cursed, eyes darting around when the smoke cleared only to see a baseball bat coming towards his head and it was only by his good reflexes that he barely managed to dodge, only for it to graze the side of his head. That was more than enough to send Kang’s head snapping back as he stumbled and fell to the ground. The next blow came in the form of one of the figures lifting a foot to kick him.
The fox spirit panicked as he felt himself weaken. But given that his physical strength was not much different to that of a human’s, the spell he was hit with affected him differently and the magic that was keeping him in his human form was beginning to drain.
The kick that was meant for his abdomen passed right through Kang as the fox spirit turned incorporeal on instinct and scrambled backwards despite the pain in his head and he panicked even more as he felt his human form start to shift!
“Whoa! What’s this one doing?” One of the assailants called out as they pointed a handheld camera at Kang.
“Is that a fox?! Holy shit! This video’s going to sell!” The one with the baseball bat whooped.
“Did you see that though? My foot passed right through him! It! Whatever that is!” the other one laughed in cruel delight.
Kang the fox was bleeding from a wound on his head and he yelped as he scrambled into the nearest dark alley he could reach, anything to help him get away from this as his attackers gave chase!
