1) I was raised very loosely Christian (protestant) but became agnostic when I was 13 thanks to an amazing Religious education teacher who made me question things and also realising I was hella queer and I had some things to figure out. That was 6 years ago, I am not much closer to figuring anything out.2) Nobody in my direct family is particularly artistic, and I didn’t know any artists growing up, but myself, my brother and one of my cousins all show artistic interests. Nobody can figure out how we are, but currently I’m the only one trying to make a career out of it.3) I designed a badge for a Scouts association county camp competition when I was 13 and won. I got no money but an unbelievable amount of chocolate, which as a child was just fine by me.4) Following that fact, I was a scout between the ages of 7 and 15. Part of me wishes I’d never quit.5) I’ve written and am in the process of illustrating a children’s book about a transgender child, if you follow me on twitter or instagram you may have seen sneak previews of it. It’s a dream of mine to get it published.6) My favourite book is the martian. Its an incredibly good book.7) One of my most prized possessions is a signed copy of Ults #1 a friend sold to me on the cheap. I have it framed in my room.8) I was once slapped by a woman in Germany when I wouldn’t sign her petition . I’m 98% sure I didn’t deserve it at that particular moment.

9) When I can finally edge my family into being comfortable with it, I plan to change my name to Mark, hopefully. 

10) I was once bitten by a swan.

Ooo, that’s risky bidness, wanting to know me better! Just to keep it interesting, I added an extra one, and one of these facts is, in fact, not a fact, but a lie! :O But which one...

1. I’m married.

2. I knit A LOT.

3. I work with animals, and I do animal fostering and rescue programs for local rescues.

4. My mom is the one who got me into Stony.

5. I’m terrified of getting splinters and eyedrops.

6. I ride horses, and I used to be a competitive curler, and those are the only sports I do (besides a brief and painful foray into volleyball in my later years).

7. My favourite book is To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis. I own ~4 copies just in case.

8. I broke my wrist in seventh grade sledding down a hill in my hometown.

9. I love plants and I have a big garden, but I also kill them A LOT so it’s an exercise in frustration that I do anyway.

10. I once spent a day with my brother going stop to stop on the TTC (Toronto subway) and collecting a transfer from each one. I have the transfers all put together into a map in my living room. It’s one of the cooler things I own.

11. I once got bitchslapped by a bald eagle.

I cut my hair every winter so it’s too short to put in a pony tail otherwise I’d never have it down

One summer when I was a kid I reread These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder twice a day every day for three months straight.  I have not read it since then but you know why would I ever need to?

Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon tie for my favorite animated movies

My anniversary with my girlfriend was April Fools Day because I accidentally disappointed her by telling her I’d decided we could date as a joke.  Oops

My favorite original character of all time is Caramis, whose name was supposed to be Camaris but I misspelled it once and oops.  Also he was created by a boy named Chris.  (The original Chris to beware of.)

I have never drank alcohol.  My father, grandfather, uncles, etc etc are alcoholics and it terrifies me I could become one too

The first long story I ever wrote was about a vampire named Alabaster who didn’t care at all about the story he was involved in.  All of his offspring were cursed, his also-a-vampire brother fucked his wife, they had a demon offspring that tried to kill everyone and Alabaster still didn’t care.  He never cared.  Not once did he ever develop one small shred of giving a shit.  It was a very difficult story to write because my main character was like paint drying.  But his brother Sam was a shit show who couldn’t stop producing demon planet-killing offspring.  Also Sam’s mom totally wanted to bang Sam.  Like, hardcore, no kidding, what is wrong with you lady.

In all my public school career I only got in trouble twice.  Once was for calling Sandy the girl who tried to sit next to my not-boyfriend but friend who was mine and also a boy, Chris, in a flirtatious way, a red-haired-witch.  This made her cry.  (I probably said other things.)  I had to go to time out and they sent home a note to my Mom.  The other time was for taking a cat to school.

When my family is hanging out and we got completely off-topic or start to sound crazy we say “line dancing cantaloupes” because one time my sister challenged me to have a completely normal thought and line dancing cantaloupes was the first thing I thought of that seemed normal.

wrt fandom+money: a lot of people offer fic-based commissions if you don't feel comfortable accepting donations. you could also start like a patreon?? (I would support you lmao 🤔🤔🤔)

I also feel uncomfortable taking money for fic, alas. At some point in my life I would like to try writing origfic, which I would feel better about getting money for (and based on which I would be more comfortable with something like Patreon) and which, let’s be honest, would probably be about characters who are a whole lot like characters you know and love anyway.

(I know I keep saying I want to write origfic, but then I keep signing up for challenges with deadlines. Two RBBs (Cap-IM and Cap) and then the Star Trek AU sequel and then I guess we’ll see what comes next.)
